What else needs to be bought to attend the Carlisle event ? Thanks in advance for the info. and sorry if it is already posted on this lengthy posting.

Hi Jimmy,  if you have not yet registered for the show field you can do that here:  http://www.carlisleevents.com/...tionals/default.aspx

That and the banquet are the only other “in advance” outlays I can think of. @edsnova can probably answer that better.

Welcome to The Madness!

so alan and or jeni do we prepay for dinner I am little confused and if so who do we pay

Gerd, @edsnova will be posting more at that shortly; I believe in its own thread.  The usual method has been once the amount is established, the coordinator of the event collects the money (we used checks last year, but I am not sure what Ed is going to do as PayPal may be an option) by a certain cut off date.

In other words:  Stay tuned for more information... LOL

@GERD   Ed will be posting in the near future a form to fill out and send back along with the Saturday dinner check

Saturday Night Gala Awards Dinner Banquet will be at The Orchards which is half an hour down Rt 11 from the hotel.

Cost is $40 for the buffet: Grilled chicken breast in marsala sauce, broiled Haddock with pico de gallo, mixed vegetables, whipped potatoes, salad and dessert, tax and gratuity inclusive. Cash bar is steps away in the lobby.

...….Watch for a new thread later this week with your reservation form.

Is it worth while to do the judged pass? Do they have a separate class for Speedster replicas? If a judged pass is bought can you still park in the same area as un-judged cars?  ie.. being able to park with the rest of our club's cars.

Someone may know more about this than I do, but Cory and Todd did the judging thing one year.

Separate Class:  No. Cory won the Resto-Mod that year though, but our speedster isn’t exactly normal.

Worth it- depends on what you are looking for from the show, I guess.

Parking: I believe you can park the the rest of the group; judging is done at a certain time, in a line up at the grandstand.

Bottom line is it is up to you. And as someone else said, don’t forget to list your club membership as “Speedster Owners” when you register judged or not.

28 Rooms are now reserved !  I will need increase our room block to be sure we have enough rooms. Make your Hotel reservation asap.

Jimmy V asked, what else to bring. Some answers were offered.  One thing could be something for the raffle on Sat Night. Bring something, often, but not required to be, related to Speedsters;  such stuff is most frequently automotive related.  We are gearheads after all.  You donate whatever  to the table, buy a ticket, and when called, take something from the table.  Some of us, not me, have special and remarkable artistic talents, so art works are donated, now and then.  PS: the money is used to finance the next years meeting, party room, name tags, refreshments, and etc.  Speaking of refreshments, there is another ad hoc competition to see who can bring the very finest in distilled spirits.  Irish whiskey is a perennial favorite, Scotch is frequently seen, and, as more than a few venture forth to PA through Tennessee, excellent bourbons do show up.  So there is an opportunity to "bring something".  Voting on best in show in this category often follows extensive tasting up to and through Saturday night, or possibly in to Sunday morning, and usually gets forgotten about by the time the tasting is done . . .

Thanks, Kelly: Again, for emphasis: if you can, please bring something for the raffle. Spare parts are much appreciated. Speedster cleaning kits or supplies. Wine and beer, car art, apparel, special tools... Be creative, or be practical: it's all appreciated.

Everyone is encouraged to buy a ticket for $10 and we pull the numbers out one by one, and you go get the item of your choice from the table, and I put the money back into the account Cory gave me (which is the account Bruce gave Cory) to operate the event: banquet hall rental, name tags, door prizes, refreshments for the hospitality suite, etc. and so-forth.

We've seen some impressive loot on that raffle table in the past. I can recall at least one complete Speedster windshield, for example. Some really fine one-off artworks. I pulled a sway bar off the table one year. And I know for a fact that someone scored a complete Megajolt crankfire ignition system.

Carey Hines has been VERY GENEROUS over the years and has donated more than one Speedster windshield at the raffle.

This year he needs to change it up a bit and bring a Roadster windshield....

Now, who would need a new windshield?  Let me think...

Sure.....if you drive from Cali to Carlisle in a speedster it's pretty much in the bag.

I vividly recall when Mr. Stroud won the first choice in the raffle for a speedster windshield  …"Thank You Jesus"   was, his exclamation LOL

Um...that was actually   x 2 , Doc!

I can attest to that, having been seated next to David when his lucky number was drawn.  I laughed for quite a while after that...

But I couldn't think of a more deserving recipient of another windshield that needed breaking.
