Last year was the first year we drove down without the Spyder. It was onlt to the crappiest weather ever forecast and realized.

I have driven the car down at least five times, sometimes in the rain, sometimes not. The rest of the trips I flat-towed.

It's been drier than not, by a good margin. Occasionally we get a washout. Sometimes we get a pop shower. I remember one year it rained during the banquet dinner. Not before or after, or any other time the whole weekend. I would say two complete washouts in 13 years. I'll take those odds.

The weather doesn't much matter to me. This will be my fourteenth trip. That's gotta be saying something.

Carlisle : I've arranged a visit at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs PA  http://www.emmr.org/ This will be on Friday AM after our Free Breakfast Buffet at the Courtyard hotel. The car museum is a one hour cruise on country back roads to the  Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs PA . We were there back in 2005 it's well worth another visit as they continually make changes . There is admission charge, of course donations are encouraged and appreciated.....More Carlisle weekend news to come from Ed as we get closer to the date.

Plus, it covers most of the East coast racing in the days of dirt tracks and early, short tracks (1/4 and 1/2 mile ovals) from the 1930's to present.

I love that museum and I even saw mention of cars and drivers that I had watched here in New England when I was a kid in the '50's and 60's at Westboro Speedway (now a mall).  Guys like Red Bezo:

I love the "headers" on that one.  Single Stromberg carb so don't know what class it was running but a flathead at 239 CI and single carb was stock (Mine was pushing 290 CI with dual Strombergs).

We had a VERY knowledgeable guide who seemed to know a whole lot about every car in every display.  As we were leaving one area and following him to the next, my son taps my shoulder and points to a car we had just been looking at.  Above the driver's door was our guide's name as "Driver".

Very cool.

The World of Outlaws runs at the nearby Williams Grove Race track... The only tickets available and scarce, are lousy viewing areas but they are there the Friday and Saturday nights of the Carlisle weekend.   World of Outlaws racing is something to see...wildly fast!

Gordon, I spoke with Judy from the museum she said " Lynn " had quadruple by pass surgery and is bouncing back.

That's good news about Lynn, Alan.  Not that he needed a Quad, but that he came through it OK and is recovering well.

Here we are, heading to the Museum.  No, that is NOT Pearl towards the front.  We took the pickup.  I think that's Hoss right in front of me:

Pearl was back here, hiding under her blue tarp:

And here's Bruce Stumpp, after the trip:

We've had sunny (and HOT) years, too!

Maybe but probably not, Alan. Lenny and I did that in 2015 I think. I think Jeni and Cory may be joining you.
