Joe,
How great is that! Looking forward to seeing you and your gorgeous Speedster.

Sweet!
I am going out to all the Sizzler's to lick the sneeze guards. I figure a 72 incubation period, 14 day quarantine and a 1 day drive......my window to create antibodies is narrowing.

If you really want to stir things up fake sneeze, fake sniffle, and fake cough in public. Maybe use it at the DMV to get to the head of the line without waiting. Mmmmm, the possibilities are endless with what you could do.
Joe ! Glad you can do the trip !

You put on latex gloves in a hospital, people cheer you.
Put on latex gloves in a dark parking lot, they call the cops.
Glad you're going to be able to make it, Joe!

Carlisle 2020 According to Carlisle Productions Our Import Show remains on their May 15, 16, 17 schedule !!!!!
Unrelated to us ,they did move the Spring Carlisle show from mid April until the end of May This change DOES NOT effect us
I'm not pulling any fire alarms until, well, I see a fire. We are planning to go as of now. It's 8 weeks out. Hopefully soon this will all be a memory and we can quickly get back to normal.
Cheers.
I'm definitely going to need one or twenty-seven drinks by then.
Has anybody received their stickers yet? I registered early but haven't gotten mine.
We are still hoping to make it, but since Canada closed its border with you guys we will need it to re-open before then. Only essential travel allowed, and I am not sure we could talk our way across. I don’t think beer deliveries in a speedster would work.
Most of us are self isolating these days. Unfortunately, we got trapped at our son’s house with two rambunctious grand kids...
At least, we are all healthy.
Robert, we as the SOC could petition for you on official clown car stationary, that you are indeed essential to the mission of madness. You could then present it at the border.
Bob: I read a couple of Tom Clancy novels whilst on our trip. With a little coaching and the right guys, I believe we could do an extraction for you.
Might need Bob Ford to act as a diversion.....
Gordon
if you could actually extract Rob Ford, I would be satisfied with that...
LOL, He is as polarizing as Trump and all business people love him too.
FWIW, I got registered Gate-n-Go at Carlisle. Need to do same at hotel. Sure hope this all gets to go as scheduled.

I hear we're going to watch Alan Merklin try to grab a greased pig Wednesday night. Then we're gonna have a square dance, called by Lane Anderson "Annoying Radio Guy". Maybe a card trick or three from Ed Ericcson. Jack and Maddie are going to do the dueling banjo routine.
Max is going to do a live reading of all three books, Cory/Jeni are going to disassemble then re-assemble their entire car. Chris is going to vape his face off. Karen will sip something good. Chuck will consume an entire bottle of whiskey and repeat himself. The Stroud's will discuss their latest touring/trailering adventures. Frazoo is going to shoot off rockets. Mossberg is gonna talk about the latest 718 Boxster automatic accessories. The Finch will share the latest on goat-raising in America. Hoss will most definitely wear his big hat.
Lenny, Ron, Michelle and Carey will hang back quietly and possibly smoke cigars.
Stan and Al will give a rousing discussion on gear and compression ratios, and their effect on significant others and relationships.
I will just "SHUT UP" LOL.
It'll be a real HOOT------------------

I probably COULD do the rocket thing. Does that mean I have to get there Wed??

As a last resort, we may have to try that.
That, along with a big smile, might be sufficient.
Lane Anderson posted:Has anybody received their stickers yet? I registered early but haven't gotten mine.
Stickers usually arrive within 30 days of the event
We are registered at the hotel, but I'll hold off on sending my money to the Carlisle people until things become much more clear.
I sense a great chasm in the viewpoints on how the U.S. should be proceeding, based on what I see from the U.S. network 'news'. Like many, I am of two minds as to how we should proceed.
If we say we should err on the side of caution, which side is that?

That's a lot of vaping. I am waiting for the study that shows vaping creates antibodies against COVID-19.

With the CV 19 still in limbo I'll suggest everyone wait until 7 days out to make a decision on Carlisle ..as mentioned yesterday according to Carlisle Productions we remain on the May schedule . In the interim, go ahead and make your Courtyard Marriott Hotel reservations .
Heck, I had all that done months ago. Gotta give my liver time to get prepared for Carlisle. 🥴🍺

I'm currently pessimistic about this one, honestly, but all the same I'd advise everyone who can to send the Carlisle people the $30 show fee and then, if the show gets canceled, don't demand a refund.
Carlisle Productions did reschedule the April Spring Carlisle to June, I specifically asked them about our May show, there response was it will take place as scheduled in May. Do go ahead and make your Courtyard Marriott Hotel reservations as there is a one week prior cut off date . Thanks !
Just received an email from Carlisle about rescheduling the event to August 14-16. Alan, please let us know when we need to move our reservations at the hotel.
I just read the email from Carlisle Productions canceling and rescheduling our show Stand By.....I have a call into Charity Schreffler at the Hotel PLEASE... Do Not Do Anything on your own until I have buttoned up the changes of dates that being August 14 - 16th I hope to be able to move the entire room block . I'll get back to you all shortly Alan
Honestly.....the weather will be better
It's a bummer we are being pushed 3 months but I get it. Let me know about the hotel. I was waiting to buy show field passes so I hadn't done that yet. I won't do anything with the hotel until marching orders are provided. I requested Wednesday (check in) -Sunday (check out). Hopefully, they do that for the right dates.
One good thing: Old MacDonald won't be smelling like a farm(fertilizer) in August.
We'll also get to see how Stroud's fan ratio works out, August is pretty hot in PA.
Ed, no excuses. You've got an extra 3 months!
We'll be standing by for instructions. Thanks Alan.
Attention ! Carlisle 2020... Date Change. Carlisle Productions has changed the show date due to the current CV - 19 issues. Our new event date will be August 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16th. I am working on changing the Courtyard by Marriot Shippensburg PA room block dates.....this will be a simple date change with nothing for individuals to do. Charity Shreffler our hotel contact is back in on Monday 4/6 and I will do the leg work and post the conformations ...Ed and I hope that everyone will be able to make the date change ….Stay Safe everyone ! ~ Alan & Ed.
Guess we'll have to wait to see what the situation is by then, and whether or not the border is open...
Thanks, Alan. 👍
Local news reports the infection “curve” is expected to peak around 4/18 here.
The “all clear”, if that is the right term, is expected at the end of May or after.
I've got a good feeling about this one. Hoping everyone can make it & we'll be able to just move the whole shebang en mass.
It's still gonna be weird times though. I don't think anyone expects the virus to just stop, or even fade out really quickly. Stay healthy everyone and get to work on those valve cover derby cars.
Stay safe everyone!!
Well heres to being let out of the cage by then.
Stellar job, Alan!
@ Steve Calderman Carlisle Hotel reservation....The hotel contacted me re: Your voice message you let for Carlisle reservation was in audible . Please call Charity Shreffler back again .
Al, I know that the hotel reservations have been transferred to the new August dates. Thank you very much! My question is this. Do we need to do anything with the "Showfield Registration", or will that be automatically transferred to the new dates?
Regards,
Alan,
It turns out Steve is a TD guy and was trying to register but said he could not reach Charity and reached out to me on the TD site. I encouraged him to try again as she did not understand his message. Hopefully he will get through now.
@SHU Because of the CV 19 thing Charity at the hotel is working evenings, Steve can leave another voice mail during the day and she'll return the call. THX !

Everything ( hotel and Carlisle field reservation )is already moved to August nothing for you to do !
Well, you have to remember to show up in August. Might be an issue for some of us, we're all getting older.
Show up where?
To pick up your trailer, Lane! The rest of you just go to Carlisle/Shippensburg in August.
Here is a Carlisle video we did a decade ago. Low quality video resolution, but still good fun!
Speedsters Meet Spyders Carlisle 2010 from Sandy Grzynkowicz on Vimeo.
Thanks for that, Marty! Now I'm fired up for next week. Wait... it's NOT next week? ARGH!
If you have past Carlisle photos and or videos please post to keep the juices flowing !
2010 was my first year.
A trailer from a couple of years ago.
No one is going to say anything about the Alvin and the Chipmunks backing audio in Marty's video?
I though it was cousin Vinnie singing. It sounds like his Speedo is to tight

Exhibit A: Why I need "special" gear. If my legs were in scale with my torso, I'b be 6'6".
Note @Bob: IM S6 nestled comfortably behind the windshield of his mighty IM6, head 6-ish inches below the bottom of the rollbar. Then note where my inflatable forehead is in relation to both. It was a nice ride, but my nose was just about level with the top of the windshield.
It's not easy being a bear on a tricycle.
It was still a great ride, Stan. Hope we get to do it again soon.

Good memories of those meets, Alan. A lot of faces that we no longer see, and some who have been constants.
Carlisle 2020 Update ...There has been some posts regarding our Carlisle event over on Facebook Speedster Owners. I posted this : All I'm going to say is Governor Wolf's PA can't financially survive a continued shut down and we all know the annual flu runs it's course . As of today, PA county's in the red phase are under a stay at home order through June 4th Counties in the red phase are expected to move to yellow by June 5th. Cumberland county ( Carlisle) is already in the yellow phase. So, let's be positive and look at our calendars and plan accordingly. Carlisle weekend is over 11 weeks (80 days) out, a lot can and surely will happen between now and then. Let's wait, hold our thoughts and review at 14 days out...……….. Thanks
Here, here! Too many Chicken Littles out there. Everyone needs to relax, have a little patience, and see how it goes........
I will continue to be optimistic. I'll probably go if the hotel is open(and will host us), even if the fairgrounds are closed.
Chins up everybody.
I plan to go (prolly solo) as long as we're not sitting around the fire pit and eating BBQ with masks on.
It's not totally about the cars.
Cumberland County goes green next Friday.
groups of 250 or under is ok with the proper precautions
I have been out of this loop for a very long time -- and I miss it. What I really miss is the annual gathering. And given the average demographic of all us active SOCers, caution is the order of the day. Somebody said "proper precautions" Hmmm . . . wonder what that means? Yes we are 80 days out, and we will bide some time. But I think we need to begin a discussion of exactly what we would do given that we do meet for this event. That is, maybe we do some things differently. How does social distancing enter in to what events we may want to do? What should we modify, or simply scrub? What might we do instead? I suggest that we run this around some NOW, and not wait for 14 days prior. Already, as an example Piperato says he'd come to the hotel even if there is no event at the fairgrounds. Well, I like that gumption, and dedication to the proposition. I'd second that motion. Over the years, the "Ofiicial Event" (hanging at the Saturday show field) has fallen down the priority list of cool things we enjoy doing. So, options? Attitudes? Preferences? Bring it on.
Disclaimer: in my absence, I have not read this whole thread, but rather jumped to the end and looked over the last few. Maybe all this has been chewed already??
I really should reply to this one;
That's a really beautiful Speedster there. The Maestro at work. Further, allow me to say that this tweaking by the Weber Whisperer has remained in fine fiddle for going into its third year. Danny once preached that once you get those stupid Webers set right, they work great without issue. Well, predicting the future is always hard to do and is often a fools errand, but I'm going to say that I laughed when I first heard him say this, but I am now a believer. I also knock on wood, just to be sure. I should say: I added a really good fuel filter to my system at the same time, and I can't deny that this may be having a good positive effect. 356 for ever.
@El Frazoo On 5/10 I posted ......" Let's remain positive and look at our calendars and plan accordingly. Carlisle weekend is over 11 weeks (80 days) out, a lot can and surely will happen between now and then. Let's wait, hold our thoughts and review at 14 days out " ...……….. Thanks
Carlisle Breaking News.... Wednesday, Carlisle productions was sued by the PA Department of Health for having over 250 patrons at Spring Carlisle . The suit was headed to court today but a half hour before the court appearance the suit was settled so Spring Carlisle and all the other car shows there this summer including our show will take place …. August 14, 15, 16th !
Here, here.
Like I said before, we'll be there.
Will you be here...... Or there? I'm confused.
And are we talking about your here or my here? Maybe by "there", you mean here.

whos on first
I don't know -- I think he's playing third . . .
Meanwhile: what is our party going to look like? Any modifications? Social distancing? Masks? Just what? No indoor gatherings? What's the deal?
I just hope that PA doesn't do what NY, CT, and NJ just did and require 14 day quarantine for folks coming from hot spots like, say, South Carolina. that'd mess up my plans seriously.
We won't know the deal for a while. Or if there'll be a deal.
A lot of places and a lot of people have not taken the virus seriously. So here we are.
America has a drag racer's mentality. A monster truck mentality. If the race ain't over in 10 seconds we've grown bored and moved on, and now we're offended too. It's who we are as a society, and those of us who aren't like that all the time will just have to adjust.
Stay safe, my friends.
With our mutual border still being closed, and likely to stay closed for a while, I doubt if any of the usual suspects from north of the border will be there. ALB could still fly in, though.
I suppose we could rent a transport car carrier, load up three or four speedsters, and claim to be 'essential workers', but we will have to see...
I'd be surprised if PA implemented a travel quarantine but only 1 state is backing it with fines, everyone else is just hoping people adhere. With 56hp in the wife's Thing, it will take her 2 weeks to get from PA to MD anyway.
Maddie and I will not be attending this year. We both feel that this country is in a tenuous situation that does not warrant taking the risk of traveling cross country, transiting states that push come to shove will not support the application of lethal force in order to protect our property and lives. One of the last places in this country we want to be is in Pennsylvania.
We wish everyone well and perhaps we will be able to attend in 2021.
After spending time thinking about the current state of the nation. I have decided to not attend this year.
It's not going to surprise me if most people pass on going this year for one reason or the other. I don't know everyone but the group I do, I consider friends so Ron/Maddie/Tab.... Sad you aren't coming and I hope to see you soon.
I cannot do both Carlisle AND Georgia, they are too close to each other. The wife and I need a break and she can't make Georgia at this point due to how her PTO is requested.
Stuck is probably the wrong word but it's Carlisle or nothing for us at this point.
After consulting with Maddie, we regretfully will not be hosting the Fall ride as well. We can’t in good conscience ask others to do what we would not do ourselves. Again, perhaps next year the world may be something approaching normal.
this is all understandable thinking at this point.
There won't be any contingent from Canada this year, either. The border is still closed.
@Bob: IM S6 posted:There won't be any contingent from Canada this year, either. The border is still closed.
Even if the border does open (and I'm sorry to say I hope it doesn't for a while yet) I will not be attending. Enough of your fair country (including some of your leaders) are not taking this pandemic seriously enough- your infection rates are skyrocketing, a good part of the population is so stuck on their personal rights being temporarily suspended that they don't get what's best for the Country and the idea of flying in for the event, having to travel in close contact in 2 enclosed test tubes and make my way through 3 petri dishes with the potential contact of thousands of people is unacceptable. I've even given thought to driving (my brother would jump at the chance of a road trip, meeting and telling you all about exactly how long this blasted pile of parts has inhabited my garage, and other embarrassing stories, but I've already told him it'll only happen after it's running) as I consider a number of you good friends, but it's just not doable. Not only am I worrying about myself (almost 64 and at this age a significant chance of dying); my daughter has Down Syndrome. One of the features is a compromised immune system so everything hits her just a little harder. We don't know what this would to to Rae.
Those of you that do go- I hope it works out well and all these precautions are for naught. Ed said it best a while ago in another thread- let's hope we're all around after this is over and we're able to debate whether all these precautions were necessary or overkill. I am really hoping that 1 night we (over many drinks of course!) are ALL AROUND to participate in that conversation! Al
Making it official, I am out this year. God willing I will be moving my daughter into the University of Tennessee.
I’m from one of those liberal states that closed down early (mid-March) and got flak for it, then opened much later (mid-June) and got flak for that, but have a terrific governor and health system team that took the lead and worked their asses off to really lead us to what would work to flatten the curve. That took a lot of the stress off of the Covid hospitals they set up, so we are now Slowly opening things back up and quickly backing off on that if the daily numbers show signs of weakening (currently showing 98 ICU hospitalized and 10-ish deaths per day). Massachusetts is beating Covid, for now.
In some ways it’s been pretty tough, like not seeing/hugging the grand kids for four months, but we’re getting through it with Zoom and lots of mask and glove wearing, avoiding everything except neighborhood walks and evening rides in the Speedster and doing as little in-person shopping as possible. And it’s not just us two - Everyone wears a mask in public around here. Everyone social distances. Everyone is conscious of elders and tries to keep us safe (our silver/white hair is a fast give-away). We both have immune issues, although not severe, so we do this for two reasons; to protect us both and to protect others. But there’s another reason for this caution; Out in the world, we can never know who might be an a-symptomatic carrier that could infect us and kill us, so the third reason is pure fear on our part.
For that reason, Chris and I won’t be making the trek to “Summer Carlisle” this year, to protect both us and YOU folks as well. Just imagine how bad I would feel if someone went to Carlisle and then returned home to test positive and died. Is a car show worth that? Not for me, it’s not.
Understandable.
Carlisle 2020 Cancellation... After holding out as long as possible for Covid - 19 situation to improve and after much sole searching, both Ed and I have decided that in the best interest of health and safety to cancel our Carlisle 2020 event. This was very difficult decision. We are sure that this is disappointing to all of our SOC extended family. There is just too much of a risk factor not only for the attendees but other members of our families and our other daily contacts. Jeff Deitrick at the Hotel has already been notified with a 30 day notice by phone and email . Be sure to call the Courtyard by Marriot Hotel desk that number is 717 477 0680 to cancel your reservations at your first opportunity .
Stay safe and we'll hopefully see you all for Carlisle 2021.
Alan Merklin & Ed Erickson
Thank you for doing this so I don't have to agonize over the decision about whether to go. I am very disappointed with the whole situation. I really enjoy being with you guys each year.
I too am disappointed as I enjoy seeing everyone and have not missed a single SOC Carlisle show.
Sad to hear but understand the decision.
