Maybe it is too early to throw this out but here it is.

Usually, my wife occupies the right seat.

This year we may have 5 house guests at Carlisle time and, for some reason, she is uncomfortable leaving them alone for 4 days.

So, I may have a right seat available for the drive from Michigan and the weekend.

Let me know if you might be interested.

To the hotel is about 7.5 hours non-stop. I usually stop about every 2 miles to uncramp my legs and top off the gas. So, that might add an hour or two.

I am about 1/2 hour from the Detroit airport.

It would be a pleasure to have you in the right seat.

If you have to stop every 2 miles, you really should have that looked at (and your gas mileage)

It's not definite, but I've been thinking about it, so I'll let you know if it comes together. And Michael, since you and I have chatted several times over the years private messaging, you've been one of the people I imagine doing this trip with. I'm not paying for gas until you get that mileage thing fixed, though...

GGGiddy up,  Yoda !   I'll buy the first round !

As long as we get (a little) drunk and become best friends (If I do this I think I'll be making a lot of new best friends!) it doesn't matter who buys, Al! oh boy! I always love the prospect of a few day with no adult supervision!

Shyt, Al.  You have to pick the year I won’t be at Carlisle to make the big trip?

Do I have to drive out to B.C. to get to share another beer with you?

I'm not even sure (at this point) it's going to happen, Bob, but I will think of you if I actually make it there. It's all just talk at this moment- I've got to float it past Beth before I start making any concrete plans. I am looking forward to getting together with you again (the last time was good; thoroughly enjoyed it!) and will think of you if I should have a beer tonight, though.

And you're welcome out here to the beautiful Wet Coast any time!

I did that RT 30 across Pennsylvania - seems like a century ago, now.  Come to think of it, it was 50 years ago!  Really pretty route, although, of course a bit more time consuming than the interstate.  We were bringing a new school bus from Mitchell, IN to Massachusetts and my folks wanted to see "the real country".  Saw a lot of it on RT 30!

And we went through Chambersburg way before Dr. Clock arrived!

Tom,  Rt 80 and drop down is way out of your way ...duct tape the wipers on and go for it on the PA TPK. Or, Rt 30 east runs parallel to PA TPK which is scenic route to Carlisle.

Good advice Alan.  My last Carlisle in run in Natalie, I lost both wipers in the pouring rain on 76 with truckers beating down on me with no shoulder to pull off on.  Anything will beat that experience.
