Alan,

3M makes a great carpet & pad adhesive in an aerosol. Most larger hardware chain stores carry it, as will paint/body supply shops. It is a yellow spray that sets up pretty quick.

Also get a can of "Oops!". This is an all purpose cleaner for tough stuff, like gum, overspray, anddddddddd carpet adhesive that gets on surfaces that you don't want it on.... good stuff.

There are other products, but I know a few body shops that swear by these... and I have used them for carpet installation on my 54 Chevy 1/2T resto. They made the carpet install a snap!

3M used to make a heavy duty aerosol contact cement.
You spray it on both surfaces and let tack up a bit, then lay the carpet down.
You need to be careful of over spray, and be really careful to line up the carpet properly - once it's laded down, it's stuck pretty good.

- Sorry for the redundant answer; Jim posted his reply just as I was composing mine...

Hi Alan,
once again 3-m makes some good stuff. I've used just about everything, but the best stuff is 3m's "1300l", it comes in quart
cans. its heavier [thicker], and heavier duty. check with 3m.
I have three quarts, $30 each in the store, $15 + shipping each
if you want them. These are professional grade products.
And I no longer have a use for this much glue. I can send them out monday if you need them. Good Luck with your carpet, Bruce
