Come on @Robert M this is obviously a member who hasn't posted much and didn't realize they were missing information.   There is no need for name calling.  Let's not make @Former Member feel unwelcome.  At one point in time most of us didn't know what details would be needed for a question.

@Former Member Give us some details about your car and we can recommend which kit may work, or if you are better off going to an upholstery shop.

thanks

I was referring more to the posting of a question and finishing with a GO! I don't know who started that nonsense but it's sophomoric. I deleted it but apparently Denise didn't like it and has left the forum.

Unfortunately I believe that ship has sailed.

We ALL need to remember what we post lives forever in the ether...even if we delete it.  (please don't ask me how I know!)

While I agree with you, Troy, about wanting to help other members based on the response as it stands now, I will say perception is reality when reading a blog.  We should all know by now how our words get misconstrued and / or misunderstood often without any ill intent, not to mention our own feelings filtering the verbiage when reading a post.  With that in mind, I did read the original response and I clearly saw how someone could take offense.

An opinion was shared and a term was labeled "nonsense" and "sophomoric" (repeatedly I might add) and offense was taken.  As I have said for years: an opinion cannot be wrong...its YOUR opinion and may or may not be based on fact, it is more more often a feeling one has about a subject.

As far as intent: I do not disagree with you, knowing the original response was edited.

I didn't see the original unedited post, but I SERIOUSLY doubt that Robert was intentionally rude to the original poster; that's just not his style! Robert's posts are always focused on attempting to help the poster.

I may have been a tad more snarky than normal but this is supposed to be an adult forum and after seeing how adults ask questions sometimes it makes me wonder. I probably belong to more forums than I should but with varied interests it's nice to converse with others with similar interests.

But if you want quality answers you should ask quality questions. The OP didn't ask a quality question and she asked it is a juvenile way that someone on the internet decided was funny. Here is an example from three other forums I visit:

I'm smoking a brisket. Best brisket rubs? And GO!

I'm buying a watch. Best GMT? And GO!

I'm looking for a new 1911. Best model? And GO!

It's pretty childish in my opinion and whoever asks a question like that will never get a quality answer and I called out the OP for it. The OP PM'd with a barrage of four letter words and let me know how she felt. I deleted my response but she was gone already.

Opinions have never bothered me. But know what REALLY bothers me?

Piling on.

It’s a bad habit, and it’s as reliable as the sunrise here. We do it all the time.

You wanna’ take a shot at making the open-field tackle, go ahead and be the man. If you want to jump on the pile long after the play is over, it’s bad form. It’s certainly not going to earn you style points.

Something went down here and everybody involved has said their piece. The rest of us need to give it a rest.

I find the "GO" direction at the end of the original post to be rude, although probably not intended to be. If spoken to me just the way the message appears, I'd most likely smile and walk away.

It smacks of someone not asking for help, but directing their minions to get to finding the answer for the potentate.

Maybe just a style thing.

Good manners almost always works!

I have to mow the lawn.

I'm kind of tired of everyone being offended about everything, as though random events or people living their lives differently from the "approved" way is somehow aimed at them personally. As my momma used to say "It's not all about you, sweetie."

Everyone on every side of every argument needs to just take it down a notch. Except for me, YOU KIDS GET OFF OF MY LAWN!!!
