Kirk at Vintage has the finest carpet kits---bar none available. I recently removed all my carpet so I could install Dynamat (Primo!!!!!!) and replaced the carpet with a set from Vintage. Talk with some folks who have gone through this before you start for advice on glue to use, installation tips, etc. Alan Merkin is a reliable source of info and I would be happy to share my ideas about this project as well.
Do a search for CARPET. Under forum, select GENERAL.
Scroll down to NEW CARPET 3/18/2009.
Then check FINISHED TRUNK CARPET 7/17/2009.

Not knowing how much I would need, I started with a 9'x12' indoor/outdoor piece of remnant carpet from a local flooring store. Used a little more than half of it.

Total carpet + binding cost for interior & trunk was about $100.
I'm sure there are a zillion places that sell the original German basket weave carpet... but Veterans Supplies in Los Angeles is one of them. Original Porsche basket Weave carpet is what you want for authenticity. About $71 a yard if you have a resale card... or own a business out of state.
I dont have their phone number... but you can Google it... they're located on Pico Blvd. LA, Ca.
