Changes to my Suby powered Fiberfab Californian

I like the upgrades the wheels really set it off they look Great the roll bar looks Great too! The steering wheel is a must!

As I've already said- the wheels look sharp! As for the steering wheel- what you like is what's important, so who the h*ll cares about what the peanut gallery thinks?

Sweet ride! Where did you source the roll bar? It looks so much nicer than the black one that came with my CMC widebody. 

Is the roll bar anchored down and functional, Jimmy, or strictly for decoration?

The roll bar is an aftermarket one that is sold to fit the Mazda Miata. I bought mine from a fellow member named Alan Merklin. I believe the roll bar needs to be modified in length to fit the Speedster. Look Alan up and ask him how to make the bar. What do you say Alan?

ALB It is strictly a show bar and I doubt was made to be anything else. I believe it was a show bar only as designed for the Miata. The bar itself is thin walled and wouldn't do much even if anchored to the frame.

Hopefully, you never have to test it or knock your head on it.

No to the roll bar - I'm not a fan of them in 356s

I'm with Jethro.  I think the roll bar will get in the way more than anything.  The wheels and steering wheel are da bomb!

I am debating the bar. Glad it is 2 nuts to remove bar and 6 screws to remove bar and brackets. no big deal. Not like getting a tattoo. I can easily change my mind on this one. It doesn't get in my way so that wont be the reason I loose the bar. If I keep it I will tie it into the frame posts that come up behind the doors to make it solid.

Another question. I have black lug nuts now and have chrome ones too. I am thinking the black ones make the wheels look better than the chrome, I will post a pics with the chrome lug nuts on soon.

Black lug nuts I think look better and the new wheel is much nicer. 

As to the roll bar, most good ones are made like a Y at the base so that a triangle shape gives it strength ... just saying. 

IaM-Ray Thanks for sharing that . If I ever re-paint my Speedster I may have a nice bar integrated into the pan and body frame. The pic you sent looks like a nice job.

My question has always been regarding a roll bar is what do you do when the windshield collapses

My $0.02, definitely black lug nuts, my brutha! Your car looks awesome as it is and you've taken it to the next level of bad-a$$ery!

If you put chrome  lugs you might as well add chrome curb-feeelers.   

The simple hoop roll bar if designed correctly was designed to hold the car up from crushing the driver in the case of a roll over. The windshield was expected to collapse and did but that had no effect on the success of the roll bar to do it's job.   The roll bar had to be several inches higher than the drivers helmet or head to be effective.

Yes I am using light weight aluminum lug nuts.

Those will save a ton of weigh

Almost forgot to mention that I like the way the black lug nuts look, too, but Ray made me laugh.
