I recently purchased a CMC Speedster on a box frame chassis with independent suspension using coil-over shocks all around. The prior owner put air shocks on the front and I would like to go back to coil-overs. Anybody know of a supplier and exactly what I should ask for? Most folks I have talked to just scratch their head because theirs are too ig for this application. The distance between the attachment points at rest is 12". Thanks for the info. Martin

Due to the light weight of our cars, especiallly the light front ends, most owners who want a more comfortable ride have replaced the stock front shocks with the cheapest, lightest-duty shocks available in their area. Brand names differ. Bleed them 5-6 times and mount. Coil-overs may be more shock than you need. You may want to check the SEARCH function for shocks. I think it is active once again. Regards, Jim
If you have torsion suspension intact in the front you can pick up a couple of inches with dropped front spindles, as posted in an earlier thread, this would give a greater selecton of shocks to chose from.
IF you need the coils for suspension, check out these for whats available and calculators, ( carrerashocks.com, or proshocks.com, or koni-na.com),
and a set-up is offered through red9design.co.uk (expensive and shipping is too). The spring rate recomended by Simon at red9 is 125lbs. He claims to have done a few speedsters in england with the desired results.
given all that the other two posts regarding 'keep it simple' bears wisdom of the owners/drivers.
