It’s interesting that even newbie questions can expand into some great info for all of us and maybe some car updates:

I followed Lane’s comments about the height of the mount point  for the belt over your shoulder on a 3-point setup.   I set mine a bit lower on my roll bar than they should be because I installed them way back when I built the car (way before joining this group), when I had different seats, and I also wanted to keep the belt under the tonneau to look classier.  Also, I’m working with a belt set scavenged from a junked car which are not perfect for my car but what’cha gonna do?  I’m making lemonade, here.

Anyway, big mistake - My belts retract and they have always been difficult to use, so I got out there today and started moving them up higher so the shoulder mount point will be slightly above the top of the seat and will now be above the tonneau.   While doing that I made the belt route straighter to make it easier to retract, too.  This may be for naught if the tonneau crimps the belt when I get it back in place, but we’ll see.

Got one side done and figured out how NOT to do it twice until the third time was the charm, but the other side will be “Mahvelous” and should go a lot quicker, now that I’ve learned how to do it right.  In the end, I’ll have a safer set-up because of this thread and I can coach others on how NOT to break three new drill bits in the process.

Thanks, to all of you!
