If any of you are interested in custom performance exhaust systems for your tube frame IM and don't need a heater box system, email me and I'll send you a photo of the "Sidewinder1" header system Tiger makes at A-1 Muffler in California. He does excellent work, and one of the nice things about this system is that it is totally invisible from the back of the car.

Jean-Paul, I solved the heat/defrost problem by having an Espar gas heater with 3-speed fan installed in the new Speedster. Years ago I had a factory Ebersbacher gas heater in my '67 VW sunroof sedan and it worked like a charm - instant, on demand heat in the winter and the Ebersbacher's fan without heat de-fogged the windshield when necessary the rest of the year.
Jordan, the Espar for my car is their smallest gasoline fueled space heater; basically it's a burner chamber with heat exchanger and 3-speed fan (the burner exhaust is routed through its own pipe). They have a web site with information and dimensions.

You can set the Espar up to heat outside air or heat/recirculate cockpit air.

One drawback to Espar and other gas/diesel heaters is that they are noisy.

Or did you meant the exhaust system?

Thanks George, I'm interested in the heater. I've talked with Henry about the best method to install one. He's going to get back to me. On your trip home with your new Speedster, if you are going through Ohio I'd love to have you spend the night at my house, I'm just north of Columbus Ohio. It would be great to meet you and see your new car. Let me know......
Just wondering here but I thought the heater system in your old car worked great. I guess it wasn't enough and you turned to the Espar. I'd love to see that setup when your new car is finished, sounds like a good solution. Heat is always a must when your driving. I know from personel experiance my wife loves the heat when it's cold and that's from a person that lives in Southern California, 350 days a year of great Speedster weather.

After the problems I went through to get a merged 1 5/8 " system with heater boxes...If I had it over to do again I would probably go the way George is going. Just getting the hot air tubes down from the fan housing to the heater boxes is a pain in the neck, because the merged header is in the way (this is way more difficult than it you think). It probably isn't that much more expensive, either and the heating would be much better. If you are going to use stock or 1 1/2" heater boxes there are nice systems out there. But, if you're going any larger, to run a hot 2110 or bigger, there is very little (heater boxes, that is) to choose from.

I thought Berg sold the larger heater box setup? I have to agree with you Ron, this exhaust/heat combo for a big motor is really difficult to deal with. I went with the simple easy route with the CSP system however the system is a little on the small side for the size of motor but for street driving maybe that is OK. Glad to hear your system went togather OK. Sound like you got your cake and ate it too.
