Gentlemen,

I have number one cylinder down in a type IV motor. I was click'n about 70 indicated when I lost power. I have checked all the vitals, and it has fire and fuel to the cylinder. We have 100 + in compression. So do you'all think I have an obstruction in the heater box, or could it possibly be a seperated piston?
It's got me.

If you lost power SUDDENLY in one cylinder and it still has good compression (relative to the other 3 cyls, e.g., rocker arms and valves are OK) it is probably an ignition problem (spark plug, spark plug wire, distributor cap?), or with dual Weber IDF (or IDA) or Dellorto DRLA carbs one jet and/or fuel gallery may be plugged up.
Gentlemen;

I appreciate your input but I've chewed on all those bones. But it has to be something totally out of the ordinary. By the end of Saturday afternoon I'll have the answer, or I'll have a pile of schrapnel. Hey!Hey! I've never heard of a heater box comming apart, but then, but I have had a piston come apart. But when it did, it definitely let you know about it.

Thanks again for the good thinking,

James Doyle
