I've got a line on a good spyder at a good price.....It's newish - few miles - and sorted out...
.
Here's what I'm wrestling with:
.
1. Cost to insure? - I'm in the Bay Area (SF Bay) - it would be a "third car" and probably low mileage - so cost should be lower - collector car or ???
.
2. Cost to transport - since it's a "300 mile" car - I'm inclined to seek closed transport - Florida to CA - I'm guessing $1000 or so open transport, $1300+ closed?
.
3. Balancing whether I should do this.
+'s - living in this area is the best climate for the car - and I think I ought to own one once in my rapidly advancing lifetime.
It appears to be priced under market, so I should be able to sell it someday without losing or without losing much.
.
-'s - It's one more "thing" I don't need - but I'll have to deal with that -
.
Advice, etc welcomed....

Rick,

I'm in Santa Rosa and I pay just under $300 annual to State Farm for full coverage to $30K. It is "collector car" coverage. Haggerty is another popular and reasonably priced insurer. They specialize in collector cars and boats. You do Haggerty on-line.

You live in the middle of spyder heaven (once you get out of SF). You have the Penninsula to the south, Wine Country to the north, and the whole California Coast Hwy 1 to the west. No where else on Earth . . . .

Happy spyderhunting,
Mark
