I normally have my car in the garage where I have a nice dark brown rug for drips . But when I park on a beautiful concrete  they are very obvious.Imagine out of sheet-metal making something that is 20” x 12” that is a half inch deep..Once a year when I change my oil , I have to take this sheet metal off and scrape or wipe  off the dry oil.

At our sheet-metal club here in Sun City West Arizona they might just put a little one eighth lip

Any thoughts?

LOL Have to be a pretty big cookie sheet to span pulley to nose cone, valve cover to valve cover.

Good news? I think I finally got my boot leaks solved. I was just being too cautious of over tightening them when I replaced them last year.

Commercial baking sheets are 18” x 26”.  I use one under one of my lathes as a catch pan.  Works great.  Available all over.

I have a stack of cardboard box sheets that I use for exactly that reason.

Every year (until covid) they have a nice VW show at an outdoor mall venue with faux-cobblestone driveways. They pass out cardboard at the entrance.

I felt horrible the first year I went. Unbeknownst to me, one of my axle boots had a just broken a hose clamp and I missed it with the cardboard I put under my oil pan.
