I read this on Cal-Look and found it of particular interest. I'm kinda looking at the rear disc kit, especially with the Porsche 5 bolt pattern. Check it out if you are interested...

"Disc brake kits

"Just thought everyone should know about these disc brake kits.
I installed three disc brake kits this weekend:

1) First car 60 bug.Disc brake kits bought from SoCal imports for the front and back.Rotors drilled for porsche bolt pattern.Front brake kit with stock spindles bolted on with no problems.Worked nice.Rear disc brake kit. They say the steel brake lines are long enough to screw into the brake cailper.Sorry thats wrong there about 2 inches to short. Then the cailper housing hit the rotor.Found out by calling EMPI that you have to shim out the cailper mounting bolts with washers to make it fit. They said ever car is differt.Other then those two problems the kit worked. Front cost about $700, rear, $400 plus a core charge on front.

"2) Second car 66 Ghia.Installed the new wide five disc kit from SoCal.Just like the ones in the new HotVW.Well found two problem.1)Problem the brake lines they gave us were about 2-3 inches shorter then stock. So we bought some new stock ones.2) problem with the left brake disc was nicking the brake cailper housing. The right side was ok.The disc rotor was not cut perfectly round it had a slight egg shape which nicked the housing. So i had to do some grinding to fix the problem. But have to say both kits worked good Braking was awhole lot better.I was just alittle disappionted with the fit of the kits."
