Just purchased a faired Spyder mirror from Russ @ Fibersteel, and ready to install. Are there any special concerns about drilling into the top of your fender? A special bit to use? I'm a little leery, and wonder about cracks in the paint emanating from the drilled holes. Who's installed these mirrors?

Karl,
We have that mirror on our spyder. Take a bit of time to position it. Cover the area with tape, mark where you want to drill. Take your time, fiberglass drills just fine. We used rivet nuts on ours so we wound up with good sized holes. Definately want to put some sealant down around the holes on final assembly. Otherwise when you wash the car, water comes in thru the holes quite nicely. No special bits are needed. I would start out with a smaller hole and double check the fit and then enlarge the hole with a larger bit though. It will be easier to correct a mistake and the smaller bit is easier on the paint. The tape though is really helpful, helps keep the paint from flaking. angela
