IMHO and most other herein,  the ranting has become stale as day old bakery bread, The continued negative banter does nothing whatsoever except labels you as a genuine pita. Do lay low and see what becomes of Starke, should they fail then you'll be correct with your assumptions. Do the right thing and be upstanding individual,  saying noting further for a while, have a tropical drink or two letting time steer the course.

Well...my apologies...he just might produce a few and sell a couple. Nothing against him/them....just think its ridiculous! Just one opinion....no big deal.... I do not wish him or anyone harm(although I do NOT LIKE WHITE SUPREMACISTS). NOBODY wants to hear from me about STARKE.....

Maybe a hobby would do you good...Have you thought about coconut hats?

Doing just fine....you guys love to bash the guy with a different opinion!

Have any opinion you want. You've been heard and acknowledged, repeatedly.

Do you have anything of value to impart to the rest of us?

YES INDEED(but certainly of no value to most of the readers)...I value the camaraderie that you embrace amongst yourselves, at the same time knowing full well that I am not in that circle...which is fine. I admire your attachment to the tub as we share similar baby boomer affection for Speedster type motoring. I only tried to point out and defend my opinion yet pounced on time and time.....I cant even answer a response without being told enough! YES..repeatedly!

Guess I made the mistake of buying a car from under one of the gang without being privy to any of it....nor do I see anyone plunking down STARKE dollars yet bashing and blocking with enthusiasm.....NO VALUE of course

Banzai,

Nobody's keeping you out of the club. It's a big tent, and everybody is welcome here. You are 100% entitled to your opinion. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion as well.

But once you've made your opinion known, it's just banging the drum to say the same thing over and over and over. It makes you one-dimensional, and really hard to take seriously. You know this, or you wouldn't have said,

I think you're clearly a smart guy, or you wouldn't have spotted and acquired a car most of us only aspire to, for what amounts to about .50 on the dollar. You live in one of the most beautiful and temperate places on earth, after a career on the mainland. Most of us would love to hear about how that came to be, or what you've learned along the way, as opposed to how you think Starke is selling $100K boxsters that are neither speedster nor boxster.

The same argument can be used regarding most of our cars-- they are nothing more than clown cars with a fancy lawn-mower engine, and we spend between $20K and $100K on them. All of them could be humbled by a Honda Civic under the right conditions. Every single car-guy friend and most of my family think I'm nuts. They're probably right. I don't care, and neither do you-- it's an illness we all share.

I would assume the Starke buyers will have the same kind of disease, if a different strain. There are guys out there lavishing huge amounts of love and cash on stupider things.

I would bet that there are no small amount of guys who agree with you regarding the car and the business model, but most of us are just taking a "wait and see" approach. Saying the same thing again and again is not convincing those who think it's a good idea.

Regardless, we're not all going to agree on this. That's OK. But what will keep you from being taken seriously or becoming a "beloved member of the inner circle" is to continue to hammer your opinion on every single thread Starke puts up. It's obnoxious, but they paid for the right to do it.

I wish you well.

Banzai

I hold no animosity toward you for buying the IM6.  All is fair in love and speedsters.  And honestly its been a blessing.  Most of the members of this group who know me, know that I was never a 356 guy.  I previously owned 2 spyders and I've always been a spyder guy.  Building this spyder has also allowed me to reestablish a relationship with an old friend, Greg Leach.  I doubt I will ever own another IM.  All's well that ends well.  We both have cars that we love.

I'm not sure if I'm really part of the "gang".  I've only been a member for 4 years.  But I would say that I do feel camaraderie with the men of this group.  And I think that feeling is a product of not just mutual interest but honesty, respect and humility.  We all want to hear your opinions but we also want to feel that you respect our opinions.  It's easy for things to get misconstrued in written form.  Even more of a reason not to sound  uncompromising or arrogant.

I actually kind of like the Starke car and I hope the buyers will join the club and give us all feedback.  Maybe one of us will be lucky enough to get the deal of the century on a used one like you did with your IM6.  Cheers and Happy New Year.

Regarding the Starke car, the market will speak to that.  Banzai, you are more than welcome here and are invited to any and all gatherings, although I know distance is a big factor. As for there being an inner circle, only by way of duration.  I’ve been here since early ‘05, so I guess I’m officially part of the old guard now.  The only problem is that you, much like my beloved dachshund, have trouble letting go of something even when you’ve destroyed it.  We’re all certain of your feelings about the Starke - some even agree - but we don’t need to beat that dead horse into a pulp.  Let’s just drop it and move on, okay?

Carlisle is in May and the Tour de Smo is in September.  You are welcome to join us at both.
