I was tired with adjusting the old points on my 1600 so I install a Empi Accu-fire electronic ignition module. Well now I am having problems. The coil is the right impedance rating for this module. I did try to advance and retard the distributor .....not to successful.Any suggestions besides chaining to another ignition module.

Joe,

If your Engine was performing normally prior to the installation of the New Ignition Components there are several possible areas's you may want to explore.

If you removed the distributor to remove the points and install the module, ensure the distrubutor was positioned in the same location that it was removed from. (Check Static Timing - #1 TDC, Distributor starting to fire #1 Cylinder). If your timing is correct the module could be defective. I know of problems encountered with other types of ignition systems if the electrical was not properly installed and also you just may have a "Bad Part out of the Box". If the engine will run and you don't want to "Trouble Shoot the Problem", take it to a shop and have the engine tested on an Engine Scope.

You could put the Points back on and if the engine performs, look for the problem in the Empi Ignition System.

Good Luck,

Jack Blake
