engine cover release

Hi Folks,

Been messin around with the engine cover.....fits pretty well now but I have a problem with getting the damn thing to open !!!

I managed to bust the cable release but that aside...when the latch is released, it does not pop up at all, you need to lift the lid. Not a problem when I'm standing at the back with my emergency release but impossible if using the pull in the passenger compartment. In the past, I pulled the knob, locked it off with mole grips and walked around the back to lift the lid.

Its the standard cmc latch....any advice ?
