engine orientation

I just bought a rsk kit , a project started but abandonned mid way, but now I have a question that might sound stupid but here it is when istalling the engine trans combo in the kit the motor is ahead of the trans compare to the opposite in the original beetle, do you have to do trans mods , because the wheel would go in reverse???????

You are exactly correct about the direction of the transaxle. You will need to flip the ring gear to account for the reversed direction of the wheel rotation with the mid engine setup. Though it sounds imposing, its' really no big deal. Talk to a VW transaxle specialist for the details. Also, you might want to upgrade your transaxle in the process - at a minimum, add a billet sideplate on the drive side.
