Why is it such a pain to take the engines out of our spyders. I removed all the tin, carbs and alternator stand...left the fuel pump, distributor and oil cooler.
I had to jack up the front to clear the torsion bar housing with pulley, then the oil pump bolts and then the bottom of the block. Just had enough clearence to pull free of the transmission mainshaft.
If you raise/angle the engine too much the flywheel gets stuck at the top of the transmission bell housing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Going in will hopefully be easier.

Or, undo transaxle mounts on the clutch end, loosen those at the nose cone, and jack the whole engine/transaxle unit up together. Support engine weight (come along from ceiling joists or engine hoist) then undo engine to transaxle bolts. With the top of the engine stripped off it slides off the input shaft and clears the lip of the deck. But yes, a real PITA! Beck and big oil pump are the source of this difficulty for me. Or, hire someone else to do it & give him these instructions.
