Just got link to latest (Kit) Car Builder magazine (sure wish it were still printed!) There is a new kit car available (appears started in UK). It's based on a Mazda MX-5 (Miata). They call it a Healey Enigma and show it with the Austin Healey 3000 but the tail end is distinctly Porsche 911. Really cool looking ride (the car not the chick).

Tailights--ugh!!! With such an appealing design up front you mean they couldn't figure out the back end. Wish they would had shown both backsides bet the other is properly proportioned and matches the quality of the front--hee hee!!
Reminds me of a Mini Cooper from the front and a bad idea from the rear.
But, someone will like it! Clearly the pics weren't shot in the UK and the license plates appear to be photo shopped in.
It's an enigma all right.

I agree on the tail lights. Very poor judgement in their placement. Integrated into the bumper at about half the size would have been nicer. Or out further toward the sides and much lower, like right above the bumper, would also have been better.
Designers must start with the front of the car and get really tired by the time they make it to the back of the car. With some exceptions of course, backs of the cars are where they usually make the most mistakes.
Yup - front headlights are straight from a BMW Mini and back are Nissan Micra (?)
Of course a 4 cam 32 valve V8 is an option plus the power hard retractable top (PHRT) looks sharp too.
Is anybody else getting tired of the "My diamond upholstery is better than yours" wars? This is one of those fashion trends that is going to die hard, like baby blue double knit leisure suits.......or not.
When I see that stuff I think down filled parka.
Just my opinion, worth virtually nothing.
Nice looking chic...the car's ok too. But....why does the dude have to flail a handgun later in the photo shoot ? Just a faux modern accessory for the current market ?
You can get the same interior kit and a nicer rear end treatment for a lot less in one of these. Probably better build quality, too:

The diamond is ok in a say a spyder or a mega-bucks Ferrari. It does seem too 50's hot rod though.

You'd miss out on the joy of bringing together hundreds of parts from dozens of suppliers to make one unique and dysfunctional car.

I say no. Especially compared to an original Healey. And especially compared to any of the Jim Simpson Miata glue-ons.
Some of those are pretty cool Ed. How much do they cost?
I like Minis, Looks good in white, but the tails are killing me.

I think $10k-ish for the kit. Not sure why he doesn't have the prices on the web site. He was at Carlisle last year.
