@Gordon Nichols I think Specialized is the most refined of the E-bikes out there. If your bike was black, you really would have a hard time knowing it even was an E-bike. I work for a Specialized shop. We were bought by Specialized back in August, so now we're corporate. Not as nice as it was when it was privately owned, but that's a story, or nightmare, for another time.

We sell the SH!T out of those road and gravel E-bikes. All to an older crowd. There's mountains around here. I don't have one, yet, but I have nothing against them or mountain E-bikes. Some people get sand in their panties about the subject, but whatever. I did a short ride in the neighborhood today on my regular bike. It was only 11 miles and 2000ft of elevation, my knee was giving me some grief. An E-bike would've solved this. I think they're great for keeping people active.

The mountain version isn't legal to use on the trails around here, but there are many that keep on riding them. There really isn't any law enforcement, so what the hell. They do not do any more damage to the trails than horses do. I'm also a trail crew leader for a trail work crew, so I've seen it. The mountain E-bikes just allow people with mediocre skills to get deeper in the forest than they should be. I've seen a moron with more money than sense buy an S-works Turbo Levo full suspension mountain bike for $12,000 just to ride the local paved bike path. Whatever. He probably has a new automatic Porsche too.

BTW, Gordon, if you develop some play in your crank arms, this is normal. It'll take up to two wavy washers under the non drive side crank to kinda fix it, but it will not get rid of it totally. If it still has 1mm of play after this fix, it'll be warrantied. This is if you bought the bike new.

I had a BMW 1300 GT 6 cylinder,,,had it a few months and it was too much bike for me(age late 60s) sold it and stuck with my BSA 650 and Norton 850

Yes Bob, the 1600cc BMW 6's are a lot of bike and fast!! I love mine because even though it is 700 lbs. or more, the center of gravity is really low. I feel it handles better than some smaller bikes and it fit me well. I have been riding for 57 years on everything from 90cc to the BMW I own now. Sorry the GT didn't work for you, I get it.....I love the old British bikes too. Just don't own any right now.
