Greetings from Atlanta,

I want to say thank you to SOC and to the folks here. I have used SOC as a research resource for about 2 years. I would have asked some questions, but every time I searched, someone has already asked the same question thus I found my answers. After a few months of researching, I went ahead and become a supporting member. The information here on this website has been invaluable for me.

My wife is turning 50 this June, so this Speedster will be her birthday gift.  Her car is getting ready for transit at Vintage Motorcars of CA. My daughter and I have been planning this surprise for over a year and it's almost here, we are super excited.

I reached out to Greg at VMC a few times last year and we started to finalize everything in January 2019.

Here are some rough specs and photos of my Speedster build. The photos are credited to Greg at VMC:

2110cc air-cooled engine, dual solex carbs, cb magna spark
3:88 freeway flyer transmission, 0:82 4th gear
Oil cooler kit with thermo switch
Stone Grey
Tan leather interior
Oatmeal carpet
Tan convertible top and boot cover
Full tonneau cover
Emergency break to the left of the steering wheel
Air Conditioning
Retro radio
Kill switch under the dash
Kill fuel switch under the dash
12v power outlet under the dash
Stick shift lock with key
Beige banjo steering wheel
Reflectors
Beehive tail lights
European headlight lens with wire mesh
Luggage rack
190 wheels, moon
Front and rear disc brakes

Any other Speedster owners in the metro Atlanta area?

Cheers everyone and welcome to the madness!
Jonathan Freeman

Congrats, Jonathan (and Happy Birthday to your wife, too!). Incredibly exciting, and it sounds as though you thoroughly enjoyed the design/build process. I certainly did - there really is just something intangible about being part of the journey from the very beginning and having your fingerprints on the design that will make this car even more special long term! Enjoy it! It certainly looks spectacular front the photos!

@JonathanATL

"Welcome To The Madness" known as replica Speedster ownership! Good on you & your daughter for arranging this awesome birthday gift!

It would be fun if you'd share a video of you presenting the car to your wife. She will surely be amazed at how beautiful the car looks. With that said, I'm guessing you'll be the one sitting in the garage for HOURS (if not all night) staring at that great birthday present!

I bought mine from VMC Scottsdale AZ. NEW  Owner , MATT  T. has been very cooperative

I dID not like my retro radio at all , it was a waste of money.

Very high tacky but could not hear it on the road at all CLEARLY.

It sounds great in the show room but that’s all

He took it out and gave me my $800 back.

As has been said, great color combo, fantastic looking car (love the Vintage 190 wheels!) and Welcome to the Madness, Jonathan! That's quite the birthday gift. Do you remember which disc brakes you went with?

Congratulations Jonathan! That color combination looks quite nice. Enjoy the drive!!

X 2 on the colour combo and I like the slick parking brake feature. You'll have one very happy Wife !

Parking brake can be added David

If you do the stupid umbrella handle there'll be no more sliding parking brake turns in your future. Just sayin'...

Yoda out (for now, but back you know I will be!)

Sorry @JPC but Jonathon didn't buy his car from the Arizona VM. He bought it from Greg. Why the need to come on here and start thread crapping?

Thank you everyone for your compliments. I’ve been told the car looks so much better in person. I think Greg did an incredible job, I truly believe his team at VMC are quality craftsmen.

I do want the overrider tubes and a full rubber mat flooring like the original. I will purchase Greg’s overrider kit when he’s ready to ship.

I will definitely record and post a video here of the surprise.

Cheers everyone!

Welp, It's here in Atlanta, and you all are right, it looks much better in person than in photos.  Simply gorgeous.

Also, what's crazy is the giant size of the delivery truck, it's larger than a regular 18-wheeler. The truck is so big, we had to meet the driver on a large street.

Speedster at the shop getting emblems added. We're planning to give it to her this Saturday morning.

Cheers!

I like the stupid umbrella parking brake handle.  Sliding parking brake turns with the umbrella just take a bit more finesse.
