For Sale: 1983/1991 Intermeccanica Roadster #12019

This is a well sorted VW pan based Intermeccanica replica of a 1959 Convertible D, the only Speedster with roll up windows and a taller windshield and was first called the Speedster D.
This car comes with a California SB100 smog exempt registration that is transferable. Only 500 of these smog exemptions are issued per year.

Price is $16,500 excluding the 4 Mahle rims which are an additional $1,000.00.

History:
The first owner was a Vancouver resident who bought this IM Roadster Coach in 1983. He took it back to the IM factory to build it in late 1991. He then enjoyed it until 2004 when it went back to IM where it was checked out again and a sale was brokered by IM to the second owner. The odometer mileage at that time was 11,958. I purchased the Roadster in April 2008 with approximately 14,500 miles on the odometer. To date the odometer reads 16,815 miles.

Condition:
Body and paint are in good condition; paint has typical tiny chips and is not show quality and waxes up nicely. The color is Chiffon White, beige carpet with brown leather interior. The top is Mercedes Stay-fast dark brown w/matching boot cover. The VW pan is a 1969, and the engine is a 1973 1776cc dual port with dual Kadron carbs. IRS 4.12:1 transaxle with standard 4 speed shifter. Nardi wood steering wheel, Compufire ignition, Type III front disk brakes and rear drum brakes. Gas struts at front hood and rear deck need replacement. The tires are 165/15 radials in excellent condition on 5-1/2

Well it looks like my D is going to a new home, in fact back to Canada!

The buyer is John Austin and he is out today sending down a deposit. So it is sold pending funds. John is a SOC member and saw the add here so thank you SOC classifieds. He seems like a very nice guy and he tells me that he has 4 Speedsters in his area and has grown up with VW's.

When I found SOC and my car I had no idea how great of a site this is with all the great people here. And while my next fun car is not yet figured out this madness is to much fun to leave.

Thanks,
Dave
