It pains me to post this; almost as much as it pains me to have a CMC sitting in the garage getting no use whatsoever.

I built this car as a project with my grandfather in the early 1990s. It's had a great run, but I just don't have the time to care for it in the way that it deserves. At this point, it hasn't been out of the garage in a few years (!) and that's just not right.

I hesitate to call it a basket case, because it's been a great car, but it's pretty far from a show car at this point. It needs some moderate repairs - it's pretty mechanically sound; no rust, needs brakes, engine runs well (last time I checked). Cosmetically, it's kind of a mess. It's got some minor front end damage to the fiberglass where I met a trailer hitch at low speed (actually, at parked speed). When I last had time to spend, I was planning on improving the brakes, repairing the fiberglass, and having the whole car repainted (the original gelcoat is beginning to show its age).

I've no idea where to begin on value, but my sunk costs are zero and I'd mostly like to get it to a good home. Any reasonable offer will be considered. The car is located in Greater Boston, and if there is any interest, I'll get some pictures uploaded.

Alan, Alan, Alan.
Old wrenches never die. They just get bury themselves in the toolbox.

Ted, I'm betting an egg sammich that he's going to be sniffing around that car within a week. You should also know that he's been written up before in Kit Car Builder as the exact right guy to take a dead or dying project Speedster and turn it around to a happy home as someone else's running, beautiful dream car.
It's a whole lot better than watching them die a slow, agonizing death of disuse, IMHO. When the day comes that you really want that car out of your garage, keep Merklin's e-mail handy.
He might give you a couple bucks, but only after he tells the rest of us -- say, a hundred times -- that he's built his last one.

I've been fortunate enough to live my dream I had as a kid, building cars. At this juncture, it's become too time consuming.
Case in point, I thought this street dune buggy would be a quickie 3-4 week build, but ideas started to flow and I got involved so now it is to be a full blown custom build and I want to see how I can do this on a shoe string budget as completed street buggys don't have a lot of value to them. Chassis was a trash pan on wheels so it's now been gutted on the Data Liner laser table tonight for a proper cut & splice. This afternoon, I whined, pissed and moaned to Randy, my magical painter. He has offered to shoot a base coat clear coat urethane and a light buffing for a measly $600.00, I'll be forced to share few of cases of the local grog and probably push a broom.
If there's interest, I'll start a thread on this build. ~Alan
I got out to the garage for a few photos today, which are linked below. Also turned the key and started her up without any problem. As you will see, the trim has been mostly removed in anticipation of the re-spray that never happened - it's all there, just not installed. If you have any questions or would like a picture of something specific, please let me know.
