Thanks Dan. I was under the impression that they were separate.

Early CMCs came with the frame separate and the doors not mounted.  My Nov. '88 came with both installed.  The sub-frame is very strongly attached to the fiberglass body with what looks like lots of Liquid Nails and 1/4" dia rivets.  I would not want to try to separate them.

Dave - If put in a framed wood crate - it can be shipped by truck.  Since it is not a roller (with steering/wheels) it would be costly.  In 1988 (a long time ago) CMC quoted $1400 from Miami to Northern VA via Pilot Trucking. You still need a donor VW for pan/suspension/drive train.

Thanks Greg- I thought that at 1 time the body and the sub-frame were separate. I didn't know they later came more complete.
