Fuel Tank Screen

On the way home from Carlisle, my fuel tank cap gasket disintegrated. I am pretty sure bits went into the tank.

I currently don't have one of the screens installed. I have a filter mounted on the front beam.

I have noticed that some screens currently available look like they are not copper colored and have something at the mid-point of the screen tube.

I epoxy coated the inside of my tank and the copper-colored screen won't fit. Is the other one with the thing inside any smaller diameter?

I am thinking it would be good to have a screen to block any big chunks before they get to the filter.

Of course, I could remove the tank and flush out any gasket pieces but I would rather not do that. I have thought about removing the sender and putting a vacuum cleaner hose through the opening to try and suck up any chunks.

The problem using the oem tank screen is your not sure that is the fuel flow problem until you remove it which can open a can of worms if it doesn't reseal correctly. I don't use them and put a larger tin fuel filter neat the tank and a clear plastic oem filter where the hard line exits the left frame horn .
