grease

I know this may seem obvious to most but shoudl I pack in grease when installing new wheel bearings (VW Beetle)?

Tim, by all means you must pack the front wheel bearings. If you don't already have it, get the Haynes Repair Manual for VWs 54-79 and look on page 1-22. It tells you how with a good illustration.

Good on ya for wanting to do your own work. My suggestion is that you have an experienced person help you the first time you try a new procedure. It's not an overly complicated process, and I'm sure you could Google it and view photos, but it helps to actually watch someone pack a wheel bearing for the first time.

Yep, ya gotta pack the bearings AND fill the entire hub cavity with grease.

I put Zurks/grease fittings on both my cars on the rear swing housings I keep um capped off once a year..

I need to do the same on the front rotors makes the service easyer and quicker.
