there has been occasional talk regarding heat in the engine compartment. In my V8 life we often used a Psuedo-asbestos "Header wrap to contain heat into the pipes. Have any of you used this product on the VW motors? and if so what have been the results?
I realize that some guys feel that these products can accelerate rusting.....not a great issue where I live.
Thanks in advance for your responses

I've got my heater boxes wrapped up with header wrap, works great! I noticed a decent increase in heat esspecially after insulating the lines going up the the passenger compartment. I also live in an area where rust isn't a concern. If your worried about any rusting then get the boxes coated before insulating them. Rust is only an issue if your driving in rain often, you leave your car outside, or if you drive in the snow. As it sits right now the car has more heat with the hollowed out heater boxes wrapped up then the stock type. By no means is my heater a blast furnace but it is decent now.
