Many, if not all, of the "Car Sales" websites will direct you to other sites for information on cars for sale. The legitimate ones post their own ads but will also redirect you to other sites. As with all scams it's caveat emptor. If it looks to good to be true, it is. Also, if you reach out and the seller only wants to communicate via email, they have some sad sack story about why they're selling, they're overseas at the moment, ask you to pay the the shipping fee and they'll pay the driver for you, and etc etc.........IT'S A SCAM.

One way to check on some of them is to copy a part of the ad copy, especially if they list a fake VIN#, and use that as your Google search term and you may find the dozen other sites the car is on. Usually the car is for sale in at least 7 other states. When I'm bored I go on Facebook Marketplace and look through the car ads and report as many of the fake ads as I can and they get deleted. It's like an electronic version of Whack-A-Mole.
