Hello from the Netherlands

I have an agreement with my son that if he is 16 year old we will build a kitcar... He is 10 yrs but keeps on asking when we are going to start. So this will be the first start Orientation. I am thinking of building either a Spyder or a Speedster. So hope to find here more information that by the time my son turns 16 the choice of kitcar is made.

Pieter.....Welcome to the madness......You should be able to get just about anything in the way of information and leads on this and the Speedsterowners.com forum....Explore the tool bars and you will find vendors, photos of works done or in progress, and a trick or two not listed in the service books.....Take my word for it, six years is a VERY short time......Good luck...

I think it would be wonderful for you and your son to build a car together! He is right - there is nothing wrong with starting early!

Thx for your reply. I have a question already.. As the weather in the Netherlands isn't always as pretty as in California I will need a convertible top. Is it possible to put one on to a spyder?

Tops are available for Beck replicas, and I would assume you could get them for Vintage or Thunder Ranch vehicles......Click the webb sites under "makers" and ask them directly....These are called "Emergency tops" over here, as they normaly are NOT all that rain tight while under way.....Better quality could probably be had for an increased investment.........Hope this helps...

Just as you advised I looked at the websites of the makers. Looking at the info and pics on the site of Perry and Martin and Walker they have indeed convertible tops. So the spyder is becoming a serious option for me :).
