Hi Paul....Yes I am. The owner said he has installed the frt. suspension in a Beck.  The kit is $2250.00. He has not installed it in a Subaru water cooled version with a radiator up there though.  Hopefully I'll get my trans. case back from the polisher this week and take it back down to Rancho. On the way back I'll stop and see Greg Leach at VMC to ask him if it will work with my Subaru Spyder.

I won't be going to the SLO event this year cuz I don't have a car to drive. Wouldn't you know...this year you'll be going !  Today I'm making reservations for the Carlisle event though. Since I don't have a car Susan and I are just going to make the Carlisle Event a pit stop  in conjunction with another trip we're doing. We'll visit Gettysburg and Hershey on this one as well. I haven't checked it out but there is an entire play presented and acted by town members in Monroe Alabama. I'm sure you know the story "To Kill A Mockingbird", well it's done in the town of Monroe where the story took place in the book and the movie. It just sounds interesting and fun and if we get lucky on the dates, we'll drive down there to see it.

Would you mind taking a set of wind wings to SLO for the Raffle ? Be sure to show them to Cory so he can drool on them !  Ha ha ..................Bruce

Is that front suspension in the pic a Mendeola?  Can it be purchased as an add on kit?  My pan was from a Super beetle with mcpherson strut front suspension and now has the bolt on adapter for the double torsion tube suspension of a normal beetle....

It would be a nice steering and ride enhancement! (if it is possible.)

I cannot imagine how that suspension could be installed on a Beck given that the frame design is so vastly different than a Beetle.

There was a Vintage Super Wide Body that had a Mendeola suspension for sale a while ago. So anything is possible.

A Vintage Super-Wide Body would be on a beetle pan though, right? Hence the Mendeola fits a beetle fame.

The Mendeola rear suspension won't work on a Spyder because the trailing arms are where the engine needs to be. It's very much in concept like the original Beetle IRS. To make an IRS system on a Spyder you need to put the trailing arms outboard where the spring plates are and then build A-arm mounts on the frame tubes. Fiddly business at best.

Safety Jim....On their website it does say it will work on a Super Beetle. Give them a call in San Diego.  (619) 710-4946.  or kevinzagar@msn.com..

The front suspension sure looks "Beefy" and I asked him how much heavier it was than a stock system. He said that most people think it is but, in fact, it's a few pounds lighter. Caster and camber on this system are traditionally adjustable by use of "cams" on the two lower, inner "A" arm attachments. "0" tire scrub is nice too. The steering rack/pinion is mounted where it will work best as well. I thought there were a lot of good points about it. Their claim of being able to pull a "G" in a turn seems a little dubious but I suppose its possible.

I wonder what Greg will say about it when I ask him what he thinks............Bruce
