How expensive to chrome aluminum wheels

its hard to find a chrome shop in CA. too many pollution/environmental issue. might be cheaper to buy them already chromed if possible.

There are a few shops out our way that do chrome plating still. One of the best is Rekon in Ft. Wayne, IN. I have not done wheels in MANY years, but the last time I did them they were $10 per wheel inch (i.e. $150 for a 15" wheel) assuming they could plate the entire wheel without any cutting and welding. You also have to figure shipping costs both ways. Wheels like the standard 4 lug VW or the "wide five" had to be separated and chrome plated in 2 parts, then re-welded. I have NO idea why this is, but that was the procedure...

Have you considered using the chrome-look powdercoat finish? Its not a real sparkelly chrome though IMHO. Cost is $~80 rim.

Forget it.

It'll cost you more to ship them to and from and get your current wheels chromed than it would to just buy a new set and sell your old ones on here or the Samba.

Besides, you can use the boxes the new wheels come in to ship out your old ones when you sell'em.
