I'm looking for Porsche crested nipple hubcaps to replace my existing moon style caps. The existing caps on my four lug wheels are WestChrome caps, W1131HC, chromed SS, quite stiff and heavy I'd say. Well built but not the style I want.

The car was built in 1992 so I doubt it would have the cheapo Chinese repro wheels so they may afford a better fit than some we've talked about earlier on this subject.

Does anyone know if the So Cal nipple caps would be a good fit for my wheels ? I've reached out to the hubcap expert Annaliese but no help coming from her thus far.....

I searched the archives but not much talk on the subject since about 2013. The wheels  go in next week to get the chrome blasted off and powder coated with the  period correct silver paint and then the new Vreds go on.  Any ideas or advice ? Thanks.

I had the Chinese wheels, ordered nipple caps from SoCal and they didn't fit.

Then I got a set of the older Mangel wheels, ordered some moon hubcaps from SoCal and they fit the Mangels just fine (and still do about four years later).

Mangel wheels, BTW, are identified on the inside as being made in Brazil.

I'm guessing the SoCal nipple caps will fit your wheels, but, like Troy says, probably the only way to know for sure is to order one cap, without the crest, and see.

Whatever you do, test fit before applying the crests as you can't return them once the crests are on.

Done deal. Shipping cost proved stupid via USPS for one hubcap and it wasn't worth crossing the border so I ordered all four with separate crests. Dan took the order and was sympathetic and gave a 15% discount on the caps. He was confident for a good fit with the older wheels and said they'd give a refund if they didn't fit and I didn't install the crests first and shipped them back. Cheers...

Mr. Stroud is correct but my method to resolve the madness , flat palming the edge of the cap on would then flatten the thin gauge bead on the hub cap so I did have to twist it past the flat spots to get the bead to catch the wheel humps.  I did it that way because that's what I had on hand and  make it work.  You guys have too much of a recollection  :~)

Got my rims over to the powder coater today, the So Cal Nip caps got shipped today and my Vreds arrived today. I'm surprised how flexible the sidewalls are on the new tires just comparing them to the Yoko's and the Hercules. Ray...I became a new customer at GoldWing today....thanks for the recommend. They remember you and your car with the Soob.

Glad it worked out for you David.

Hope the powder coater works out for you.

I'm going more traditional with the details on the car and have specified the wheels get powder coated in RAL 9006 white aluminum which is a legit colour for 1959 Roadster. Wish I had two more holes in each wheel though....and one more lug nut.

(Faux) Porsche badging is complete including a Drauz Coach builder badge which I think was typical for 1959. Henry had put a nice IM badge aft of the right front wheel well where the Drauz badge should be so I left it there and put the Drauz badge on the left side of the car. No one will know if we don't tell them, eh ? Porsche is now on the front and Porsche with 1600 Super is on the rear. One more on the dashboard. I like the look of it....just my preference and it seems to satisfy the curious / sloppy drivers in the rear who come closer and closer to try to make out the word Intermeccanica.

It's like little Christmas presents keep dribbling in....I like it.
