Well, it's a bit more complicated than that.  Here's the whole story:

My dad used to race (VARA) and show his daily driver ‘55 Speedster back in the 70s and I have fond memories o f the sound and smell of that car and the historic SoCal tracks he raced on.  A couple of years ago, my dad began a steep decline in health and passed away last October. The story I share below is full of heartache for my dad (when he was on his deathbed) and his kids. It’s a cautionary tale for classic car owners...

I am sharing this to warn other Porsche owners and to encourage anyone else who may have been ripped off by California Porsche Restoration (CPR), or former employees who want to share what they have seen there, to contact me.  In 2018, my brother and I were tasked with selling my dying father's four classic cars (1955 Porsche Speedster, 1983 Porsche 911SC Targa, 1983 Porsche SC Coupe, and 1947 MG TC). We contracted with California Porsche Restoration (my dad lived in Fallbrook) to make any necessary repairs and to sell them on consignment -along with tools, parts, spare wheels, and literature.
In late 2019, after months of us asking, they told my brother they had sold the Speedster earlier that summer, and sale of the Targa was pending. In both cases, they claimed the cars sold for precisely the amount estimated in the contract. However, to this day they refuse to provide a bill of sale or any documentation whatsoever regarding actual sale amounts, claiming they have no receipts or records. Our attorney filed discovery, they failed to comply, and so we went before a judge to compel them. The responded with a fraction of the documents requested (such as verifiable bill of sale).
You should know: CPR sold the cars, but has been horrible about sending us the money. We asked for the funds from the sale of both cars in August 2019 and, after hearing endless excuses, we threatened litigation. They finally paid us paid us for the Targa at the end of February 2020, claimed it sold for exactly the estimated sale price but told at least one potential buyer that the asking price that was 50% higher that.
CPR sold the Speedster in 2019 (who really knows since no bill of sale provided) and, as of December 2020, they still has not paid us one dime of what we are owed for the sale (+6% interest). For more than a year they just make endless implausible excuses for why they don’t have the money the buyer gave them, and can't pay up. They claim the car sold summer 2019. In November 2019, we forcefully requested the funds. They made up endless excuses and delays ("the accounting girl left", "we're in between switching banks, again", "we'll pay in full in two weeks, promise") in countless emails and calls.  We finally resorted to litigation in early 2020 and are in the process of winning that case, learning the truth, and recovering the money our father left for his family.
In September 2020, they finally returned the 1983 911 SC Coupe (we gave the 30-days notice to return it in June). Most of the required repairs had not been completed and much of what they did was shoddy (only 7 quarts of oil in the engine, reused old windshield gasket and didn’t install it correctly, etc.), yet they presented inflated and problematic invoices for both the 911 SC Coupe and the MG TC.  According to the invoice they provided for the 911, they installed two batteries, eight new tires, and polished the wheels twice. They billed me for disposal of NINE tires. They replaced the original, matched set of Fuchs wheels with a pair of Fuchs with 1980 date stamps and another pair from a 944 turbo. To add insult to injury, they slapped a set of Generals on it (wrong sizes, too).  The original, matched wheels simply vanished.
They still will not return our 1947 MG TC. In June our lawyer served them notice to return it, then again in November, and we are still asking them every couple weeks to give us back our car. Each time they say they’ll send it tomorrow, or in two weeks, and give another crazy and conflicting statement regarding its state of repair (they just put the motor back in it, or need to put the motor in, or just ordered the parts, etc.)  In addition to the vehicles, they have not returned the other items -as requested.
I strongly recommend against trusting CPR with your consignment. Our contract with them is clear and we will prevail. But it will take time and tears –as Brian Dougherty said to me “go ahead and sue me, you'll get your lawyer and I'll get mine and we’ll be in court for two years!”  Nobody else should go through this. If you worked for CPR and have seen illegal activity, protect yourself by filing a whistleblower report with California DMV or let me know. If you are a CPR client who had similar problems with CPR, please contact me via PM or email (cprlawsuit@opayq.com).
Thanks for the encouragement.  My Pelican and Renn logins are acting screwing but I plan to share my CPR experience far and wide.

I had some issues with my Rennlist login once. The log in I thought I'd used didn't work, then when I tried to re-register it would tell me "a login with that email address already exists."  Then, it wouldn't let me change my password.

I used the link to contact an admin to straighten it out. I use dlearl476 as my username on every forum I'm on (easier to remember) but their software wouldn't allow the password I use on them all, so I'd changed it a bit, and forgot that I did.

Good luck with getting the word out. I think all of us that deal with cars have found ourselves in a mess like yours at least once. Mine was with CMC. Most don't gave it to the extent you're experience. To suffer that on top of losing your dad really pains me.

Thanks for the login tip and kind words.
