Black remains the hardest color to do right.  Well done!

This car is kind of like the ressurected Ford Thunderbird a decade or so ago - There were a few styling ques here and there reminiscent of the original, but it was a totally new and different style of car.  Some people liked the new one for what it was, others missed the point.  It was NOT a remake of the original ‘57 ‘Bird, it was a new ‘Bird.

Same thing applies to this car.  In and of itself, it has a lot of neat styling ques but it is someone’s take on a new car with a nod to the 356.  Nothing wrong with that.  I like it for what it is.......   A cool new car.

@Speedydaz2017 - I have to ask Speedy, do you work for Iconic? You have 12 posts and they are all about the Iconic Speedster. I don't mind the posts because I like the car but what gets me is when a company has its employees create fake profiles to promote their product. For me at least, if you work for Iconic just say so, and you can still promote the product. At least you'd be upfront about it. And, if you have one let's see a lot more of it.

That's even better. Let us know all the details. If I had the money this would be an option. If you can show the progress I'd love to see it.

That will be one very cool car!  I like the look.  I have really liked the Boxsters since they first came out...  I almost sold my Speedster to buy a local Boxster but the seller decided to keep the car.  Ergo, happily, I am putting the money into my Speedster...

Speedydave, are you in England? My mother was born and raised in Birmingham.. I have been there a few times.  I like the countryside of England and the history.... not the traffic but that is the case everywhere!  Welcome to the madness!

Jim the Boxster is nice, too bad I can’t sit in it but then I don’t particularly like the feeling I have at the Porsche dealership ....  you’re in trouble when you feel like they have a hand in both your pockets everywhere where there’s cash.

Ps I tried the Audi and P cayenne and they are nice but I actually liked the MDX more and the value and upkeep was dramatically different ... back to cars

A few years ago, long before I entered the Speedster market, I had an opportunity to pick up a late mode Boxster for a song.  It needed a fair amount of work to make it right, but the drive train was in tip top shape.

After I bought my (grossly underpowered) VS with a mind-numbingly stock 1600cc aircooled motor I reached out to my friend with the Boxster.  He still had it and it was significantly cheaper now!

After some basic measurements and a little more thought I entertained melding the two together.  Then I went to the 2018 West Coast Cruise and learned how much I could accomplish with an air cooled VW.

The daunting task of engineering a Boxster powered VS became all too real.  Make no mistake: it CAN be done.  Just not in my garage by someone with my slightly better than basic mechanical ability; and the thought of paying through the nose to have some one chop up not one, but TWO cars I just bought scared me straight!

Either way, with all that said, you have one fantastic looking car and I can’t say I’m not a touch jealous!  But some of the other comments in this thread hold truth, having these great little cars is a choice and choosing to personalize them with a drivetrain, paint scheme, interior, wheel / tire combo, etc. etc. is exactly why we chose them in the first place!

I, too, would love to read about the conversion process and see pics of the build as it goes forward!

Dave:  My mom's family lived in Smethwick sp?  Outside of Birmingham.  There was a nice park across from their house.  I will try to find the address. It has been MANY years since I was there. Her generation has passed on now, but both of my uncles, John and Charlie Round, were into vintage cars and motorcycles. I have a great photo of my grandmother in a vintage sidecar race with my uncle driving the bike. My grandmother was in her late 70's at the time!  ;-)  I do not know what happened to their cars and bikes.  I know there were vintage Jags, a home built ABC car... and many MGs and Triumph cars from the 50s. A Rolls from the 40s (they picked me up from the airport in London with it about 1970) and motorcycles from every decade including my mom's bike she used to get to school.  An Atlas, I think by BSA. I have a photo of her riding it in the snow, circa early 40s...  Cool stuff and thanks for bringing back some memories for me.

Good luck with the build and keep us posted with photos!

Can't resist a slight thread drift here. That Atlas you refer to would likely be a Norton and a damn nice bike it was.

I've had a few nice BSA's and actually have one BSA rifle...not sure even the caliber but maybe a .306. Three of my nicer BSA's here. A Thunderbolt, very fast Lightning and my beloved old 1956 B33 single. It gets hot now and then even in Ottawa ....

And if anyone ever found a B40 for sale, I'd be very interested.

I also think it’s better looking than the similar offering (which seems to be vaporware anyhow). I think the crest looks fine.

I’m not in love with the overhangs, especially in back. I’m assuming that this was meant as a way to keep the impact bumpers intact... but wow, there’s a lot of real estate in front of/behind the wheel wells. It’s not rear-engined, so it doesn’t need to be there (as on a 911).

Other than that, pretty cool.
