That is interesting, but the extra is only in the rear wheels being placed more to the rear about 2 inch and a bigger frame and one extra brace making it harder for us little guys to get in and out.  Hard on CV boots.

Ray: Some changes to the body for a 6 cylinder IM (beyond changes to IM's propriety frame to fit a larger engine, etc.):

Rear wheel wells moved back to accommodate longer 911 suspension;

Front wheel wells moved forward for ditto;

Rear fenders sculpted out for more width for ditto (as you said above);

Extra body brace in door opening for frame strength (as above).

The changes aren't that noticeable, as the original body flow is maintained.

Whatever, they are great cars to drive, and I'm happy with mine.

Dead horse now flogged...

If you want an IM-6 the body does get longer but my point was the interior cabin does not get any bigger.

I was under the impression that wheel wells moved was something that was not always done.

BTW the extra body brace is an option available to any car, but standard on IM-6

And the beat goes on and the beat goes on  ...

Some clarity gentlemen- does the IM 6 actually get longer- I thought that the transaxle was moved forward for more engine space and the rear wheels were moved back (to keep them in the wheelwells and I understand that with the 911 front suspension things need to be adjusted to keep the wheels centered in the wheelwells, but I didn't think the car actually got longer. Or maybe I knew and just forgot- that's very possible, and if you ask my wife she'll tell you it isn't the first (or second, or third, or...) time.

My "limited" understanding is that the car is NOT longer but adjusted as you have described...

Al.  Ray likes to think things are longer than they actually are...

Don't we all- one of my brother's favorite jokes used to be that women couldn't estimate the length of anything because they were all told  "Baby, THAT's 10 inches!"

I know, bad joke, but you know me, I couldn't resist

@Banzai Pipeline- that was my impression as well. Thanks for the article. Got to get breakfast for my daughter and get her off to school, so I'll read it later!

@ALB what was the old saying. “It’s not the size but how you use it “ 😂

I guess I could talk about cGmp, but I will stear clear of this purile discussion.  Lengthening the IM-6 is not done using crisco oil because crisco is a shortening.

Back to cars, I was under the impression that it was 2inches, maybe that is simply two inches in extra body behind the door due to the wheel being pulled backward and all the rest is just body alterations to make it look good and to handle the extra width of the rear suspension of the 911.

But who knows the truth except the maker but the body changes are all needed to make the car look appropriate in this case Bob's two slices of pie cuts, are completely needed to handle the big wheels as well.

That is my understanding. No additional body length, just a longer wheelbase. Bob's pie-cut is rarely performed due to the difficulty of the entire process-- but it's completely worth it (IMHO) to get big rubber to tuck under a standard body.

You have to hand it to HENRY/IM to be able to stuff the  FULL IM6/911 infrastructure/drivetrain under his speedster body, in addition to fat rubber, and have it "appear" to be somewhat original. ART & SCIENCE in concert with meticulous workmanship is nice to see....and nice that other builders are similarly presenting climbing standards. Not to be redundant, but it brings back both the report and phone call from the initial inspection back in March 2017, when the mechanic was dumbfounded as to the meticulous build/overbuild of the car......"crisp" he said and "not a replica but a truly manufactured automobile".
