Tom,

It is coming together fast, man! And looking very good. Astonishing, actually. The engine looks unbelievable -- who built that? John?? Or are you supplying the mill? I forgot, if I knew, the size, etc., so can you tell again? Sure is a lot of tubing under there for the exhaust. Looks complex, but guess it works. I am truly impressed w/ the choices you've made, and just a bit jealous of your progress with the build. Looks like you will have it soon. Meanwhile, stay tuned for a new post regarding the "other" build. There is new news . . .
Tom, TFA!! You are moving along smartly. Your idea that maybe since the Coupe was about two weeks up on my build, but there is more to do, so maybe both will come around about the same time. Have you mentioned to John about this, and specifically about if there would be any economy in shipping both cars at the same time to the same place? IF so, I'd find a way to get to that place, i.e., your place, to pick it up. Should we look into this?

Gerd: I have two grandkids, living in New Mex, and they are coming to visit and go to the beach (Delaware) second week in July. Back in Feb when car was ordered, I was sure I'd have it in time to use for that ride to the shore. [How cool would that be??!]. But alas, it does not look like that will happen.
Tom, it looks like your car is coming together. How exciting!!! Hey, were those pop open rear windows part of the package or some kind of option? I don't recall John mentioning those on the specs... That is great! I've also been curious about the back seat area as none show on the silver coupe pictures he has posted. Pure 356 with fold-down seat back to a flat package tray? Thanks! How do you stand watching that beautiful car birth so slowly? Time to spank her till she cries!
Tom,

I see we still got some digital flash color temperature problems there, but we all know the car really is BRG. I was pestering John at Carlisle about the pop-outs. He was non-committal on the idea at the time, probably because he was busy trying to think up how to do it. W/ A/C, maybe not such a deal to have or not, but if going for the auhtentic look, you gotta do this. Question about the back seat is a good one. I looked back there when at Carlisle, and thought I saw what I should have seen. Did not ask or poke around to see if it all was original fit/function or not. Pls fill in if poss'l.

PS I have more pics of a certain red car, partly done. Will post up on diff. thread.
Headliner is in and I think it looks really good.

As for the back seat, that is the plan, but I have no idea how it is going to look. The silver car did not have one. I have seen the original car's rear seat and that is what John is going for. We'll see . . .

Chuck, the wait is excruciating . . . I'd spank her (hard) if I thought it would do any good!!!!!

Well, while it's far too soon to be shooting these two cars for a Christmas Card, they are both going to be stunning when completed, which won't be much longer. The elves in "Santa's Workshop" are workin' pretty hard.

I posted several new shots of both the Green Coupe and the Maroon Metallic Speedster in my "Leader" file.

The pop-out rear windows on the coupe are very trick. Be patient, gentlemen, John is working on your cars non-stop (you can even see him and Craig in a couple of the shots).

John,

The good Mr. Steele (aka Santa, if he has elves working for him) mentioned that he was way ahead of me on the Christmas Card thing, having spoken to you several months ago. Tom and I are developing a sense that the cars may be finished rather close to one another, and so a good photo op may be in the offing. We'll wait for that. I'd say we (Tom and I) would still reserve the right to use said photo in our own personal cards.

They were marooned.
Tom, You dawg! It is getting done, and that is a neat looking engine. The DTM thing, obviously. Is that considered special order? And I forgot: what size engine do you have?? I must admit I am as confused as ever about the fan shroud thing, and what is best for cooling, etc. My recollection is John saying the std VW doghouse and oil cooler work just fine; the DTM is over-rated. You listen and read here on the SOC Forum, and see what Jake Raby, and others, have to say and you get a whole different twist. Some have said JPS is just wrong in his opinion. Where is the truth??
