Yep, the news was showing the weather patterns flowing into Cali. Lots of rain flowing off the ocean. Weird weather patterns for sure. The mid-south has been getting more snow than we are here in PA. Crazy Pete down in NC is getting a snootfull of snow. I've been lucky here....so far except that the temps are 10-15 degrees colder, hanging in the 20's.

Got an email from a friend in Windsor, UK - he's been holed up in his house for three days because of the 14" of snow they're dealing with. Anything more than 1/2" and everything stops. They're setting snow records all over the place. Heathrow airport is closed and not due to open for another day or two.

Same is true all across Europe to Germany.

What the heck is goin' on??
Just got back from a trip to Crestline, with my 84 year old parents, to watch my son play Jacob Marley in the play "A Christmas Carol." Crestline is in the mountains of southern California and we had to make the trip up and down highway 18 (called "Rim of the World" drive, because of the shear drop offs) at night on Saturday and again during the day on Sunday. The rain, wind and fog were unbelievable! Giant bolders in the middle of the highway that we had to dodge, but we made it safely and on time and saw both performances. Then there was a 5 hour drive home on Sunday night also through torrential rain. They say the rain is supposed to continue until Christmas Eve.

Troy -

You're a good dad to risk life & limb to see your son's stage production. Glad to hear you made it home safe & sound after traveling in this freak stormy weather.

The local mountains (Arrowhead/Big Bear) were in the news with mudslides and small rock/mud avalanches blocking the roads. There was also a lake that overflowed its banks just above Crestline and flooded the town. Be safe out there!

Peace - Out!
Puerto Rico??

I plan to be there for three days in January. I thought I remembered there was/is a Speedster guy there (only one??) Ricardo?? maybe I can look him up while touring.

PS: it has been cold here back east, and in a wierd way. We had an inch or two of snow the other day, that was very cold ands very fine and powdery, blowing all about, but it got pressed down into ice on the streets PDQ before salt was applied. VERY slippery. as Alan has said, night-time temps down to the the teens for a couple of weeks. Went to the beach house this week end, and there were still a couple of inches of white stuff on the ground -- it never snows at the beach!!! And the heater tape on my water supply pipe had failed (There is an exposed 10' section as the house is on pilings); pipe was frozen solid and split open. Good thing it was so cold and so consistently so, since if it had thawed out, water would have been running everywhere. So I spent most of a day cutting out the broke pipe (PVC) and installing new, plus a new heater tape, insulation and so on. I can report that the new heater tape worked, and the pipe was thawed and water again available within.

The CA weather, as seen on local TV here anyway, says like maybe 15 feet (!!) of snow in the mtns. Holy Avalanche, Batman! I wonder what that is going to be like?? Good for skiing?? How do you drive to the slopes?? Seems like too much of a good thing.
Wellllll......

Im near Glasgow in Scotland. We have had around 3 foot of snow over the past 3 weeks. Temperatures have not been above zero, and have dropped as low as -18. Average night temp over he period is -6

Last year was the same ! Normally we get around 3 to 4" then after a few days its gone....This is Artic !!

Something weird going on with the weather for sure......
The CA Central Coast, where I live, has received nearly 8 inches since Friday. Our community has a golf course and all the streets' runoff goes to the golf course, by design. All the catch basins are full and there is supposed to be another storm coming. Don't know what we are going to do with the water. Anyone have a canoe I can borrow?
Lane!

Isn't this when we're supposed to tell everyone how great the weather is in the Low Country??

A nice 52F here in Beaufort today, partly sunny, no rain (had a bit of rain last weekend), 68F tomorrow and sunny, 58F on Christmas with scattered showers so the annual Christmas boat parade on the bay might be damp...We'll see.

Hey, Y'all! That's life in the South!
