Warren,
You confuse me with quite a few of your comments. You are stuck on thinking that the statements that were made by Tom are damaging to other JPS owners value. The comments that he has made pertain to his car and his personal experiences, not someone elses heresay. It seems to me that the only comment made that has any impact on any other JPS car value is the one made by the actual creator of these vehicles. I believe that when a person who personally knows the cars that he creates and refers to his very own creations as merely "USED VWs", the value of his creations takes a deep loss of value for any potential buyer.
How can you honestly feel that it is appropriate for someone to have to foot the bill to return a product to the manufacturer to have them fix something that was not done properly to begin with? Especially when the car has already been sent back once before to fix the very issues that it will going back a second time for. This is absolutely rediculous.
As for the "rest of the story", I for one would love to hear from the other party. Perhaps he just does not want to defend himself concerning these comments, or perhaps he can not comment because he doesn't have a leg to stand on here.
Either way, the only one who has chosen to voice his side has stated that enough is enough and wishes to put an end to this whole thread.
Sorry for rambling on as I don't have a dog in this fight, but right is right regardless to what type of product it is.

Jim - Your points are well taken. I even agree with many of them. Maybe I am "out of line" by making my points, since I have no dog in this hunt. However, Tom says he wants to end it because he and others don't like to hear a dissenting opinion. (I won't go through my opinion again, I think it's been said enough) This whole issue, IMO, should have been between Tom and John, privately. Tom elected to take it public and continues to voice a public opinion, even in the same post he requests to move on. If Tom truly wanted to end it, he would have ended it, but no he continues it with the next chapter of Take a shot at John. But to Jim and others, he has elected to keep it going. I say to those who don't like or disagree with a different opinion, go get your tool boxes and get to work.
Guys and ladies,

All the builders have problems and all cars require some time to sort them out. I did a bit on my IM, thankfully Henry was always available.

It is too bad that Tom and others have had some larger problems with John Steele and their JPSs. I have spent some time talking with John and he is a bit tough to nail down.

I happened to read the following opening post of another "Green Coupe" thread while looking for something and thought I'd just toss it in.

Well it looks like we are finally out of the woods. Parts installed and repairs made on Sunday. Drove quite a bit on Sunday evening. Drove in a lot of rain yesterday. Wipers working. Major leaks stopped. Minor ones located and I will soon fix. Stop lights working. New tach in. Only very minor issues remain. Many thanks to Rocky C. for all his assistance.

Perhaps Steele read that post and figures that Tom and others corrected the problems as stated above; and anything major brought up after the above post where Tom writes "only minor issues remain" are owned by Tom.

Vince, I just came up for air, sorry about taking so long to reply. The hookers and I have been "test driving" Jim's splitty van "The Pineapple Express",all weekend. I am in the process of cleaning the sheets and getting rid of some empty Scotch bottles. The girls and I are a little tired. I'll be dropping them off a little later at your house.
Iam is disbelief that some of you are so concerned about Mr. Steele's reputation? what about Tom and all that he has gone thru? I believe that Mr.Steele should off paid all expenses to have Tom's car fixed by a local person in Tom's town, that is what a person with integrity would have done. About 6 months ago we did a house ground up about 6 mil and the architect made some changes and we went ahead and did the changes without discussing them with the owner's,the owner's flipped out and we ended loosing close to 70K but that is ok, because our reputation is worth alot more than the money, and our clients is what keeps us busy and the word spreads like wild fire..... ~Esther
Warren,
I,too, have been on vacation for a month now....I was not going to say more in regards to this matter, it just burns me to see people being taken advantage of, and for people to try and defend the person that has done wrong, also Warren I do have a right just as much as other people here to post my opinions....I know that some of you don't like it when I post here, I have been told that,I will not go into it but remember that I once not that long ago had one of these little cars and I still associate with some of the folks.... enough said !!!!
~Esther
Vince - I be on vacation 365/24/7. Eat your heart out pal.
Esther - As far as I am conerned, you can say anything you want. All I am saying, in this instance your comments are just a little untimely, but then, for me I am glad to hear from you. And Vince is right, it's not just about the cars. Opinions matter. Wouldn't it be dull if we all had the same opinion on things.
Vince my dear, so I'm on vacation again until this Sunday, I'm at our villa in San Clemente over looking the beautiful Pacific enjoying my adult beverage of choice Mojito waiting for the sun to come out of the gloom but it doesn't appear that he is going to cooperate this evening....so, Grant freshen up my Mojito quick!!!!!
We work hard but also play hard....that's my life.

Warren, I'm only in a timely matter when it comes to my work...
but hey I've been on vacation, what can I say??????? :-)
I don't own a JPS and I don't know John Steele and I live far away on the West Coast, so I've just read along on this one and laid low. But I thought I'd share a few descrptive lines from an ad currently on E-bay for a nice looking dark blue speedster. One bid so far at $15K. The ad reads, in part:

"This Speedster was built by John Steele at JPS Motorsports in North Hollywood, CA-one of the most reputable replica builders! ... JPS Motorsports stands behind their products even after it changes owners, so don
Been here longer than anyone else. Same old stuff, and it almost doesn't matter which builder's the alleged culprit. I have an IM now, have owned a Vintage, and both builders have honored the LIMITED warranties that they gave for the vehicles. I now have a local mechanic, since the warranties have expired, and I own the problems when they occur.

It's a matter of stages to get to acceptance. Meanwhile, Vince's advice is good for those who read this stuff...have a beer and watch it unfold...
We should all give a little thought before resurrecting posts like this. Maybe the issues that caused the original thread was resolved?
Maybe there is not now reason to damage someone's business like this?
It happeded on another brand of car--by a troll I am sure, just a few days ago and also was brought up again.

Yikes--right, but it's so old that bringing it up again makes me say "yikes" about doing such a thing.

I'm just sayin'
