And you thought this thread was done... LOL!

Decided to do a few little mods before SLO. I asked Greg at Vintage Motorcars to make me a custom "one-off" merged exhaust to waken my conservative 2110cc up. He came through and the exhaust is AMAZING! I need to post a sound clip, because it sounds beautiful! It really opens the engine up and still keeps the "classic" look I went for when building my Speedster.

I also had Greg redo the jets (to better match the exhaust), oil change, trans fluid change, and re-locate the oil filter so it is hidden. I never liked how I placed the oil filter - it looked like a big black pimple sticking out the a@@ end...

The exhaust was a pretty penny, but Greg and his Team did an amazing job!!! If you want one, I should give Greg a call

And for those that are wondering... I went 1 1/2" piping. A merged header to a single muffler with custom dual tips aligned/centered perfectly. System was painted hammertone style mat-black. My heads on the engine are very very mild and I wanted to keep low end torque (I don't live in the high rpm's with my driving style).

A second note, nothing hangs lower then my oil sump - so it is nice and tucked underneath without any rubbing or clearance issues.

Love that exhaust. Nice touch. PM me the price you paid?

Custom made by Tiger at a1?

@Rusty S

Custom made by Greg Leach at Vintage Motorcars.

^This. It was a custom exhaust by Greg. He doesn't really do exhausts, but I gave him a challenge and I think he might start moving forward with them. He did the single exit exhaust on his Coupe he drives around...

It tucks up really nicely. Can you tell us more about it? A couple more pics?

Similar to a sidewinder merge system. 1 1/2” set-up into a single muffler tucked nicely up with a larger pipe coming out of the muffler bent nicely to smaller pipes that come out to the dual tips. Good clearance from the valve covers and tires/rims/brake calipers. It’s a pretty nice custom exhaust fit for my Speedster. We kept it at 1 1/2” - my heads are very mild and I wanted the low end torq.

Looks very slick.

Just curious - what differences do you notice compared to the Vintage Speed in power, torque, response, sound?

If you get a chance, a sound clip would be cool.

I feel this style exhaust opens up the engine nicely. Little more power, more low end torq, and the sound is amazing.

I’ll work on getting a sound clip. Those going to SLO will be able to hear it first hand

I've tried fast and slow idles and now leave it at about 1100.

It makes cold starts in cold weather easier - I don't have to feed any gas to keep it going immediately after a start.

In hot weather, waiting for a light to change when it's 95 out and the asphalt under the car is 130, a fast idle probably helps keep the engine a little cooler.

And, if your throttle response is a little 'soft' just off idle, this will help with that, too. I did have that problem until I found a dizzy that works.

I set Idle at 1k once you pull the headlights on the idle usually drops 100 rpm to 900 .

you should be fine Brian.

This is Greg being pro-active because he knew I was going to bug him in SLO

I've learned over the years there is a method to your madness @VSpyder

Cool, now I know where to set my Dels...love them Italian carbs...and thanks Greg!
