Danny...Thanks for the info on SCCA specs. So far I have the helmet and belts..

Gordon..... That's funny ! We need to repaint our home in Baja Mex. I suggested the "Seafood Green" that I did the garage with and "Lavender" trim. She said I would have to live in it by myself.  Jeeze ! I really like that combination ! Oh well .........

 "Seafood Green"

That must have been after the boat ride!

OK...Here's the last part of my "Lane Anderson" roll-bar project. The Lexan wind screen. FYI. the Lexan is 3/16" thick. I drilled 6/16" diameter holes in it to install four rubber grommets with a 5/16" hole in the center. These grommets are indexed with the barrel nuts that I welded to the roll-bar prior to powder coating. To aid in the "tool-free" installation and removal of the wind screen,  I custom made  aluminum "thumb-nut fasteners with a built-in flange washer. This built-in flange washer allows the fastener to disburse pressure evenly on the grommet while creating a friction lock so the fasteners don't come loose.  I went for a cruise tonight and the screen substantially cuts down on the wind from the rear. I didn't need to screw my hat down on my head.    I think I'm ready for the SLO Cruise now...Bruce

THAT looks pretty trick.

Does it buffet at all?  Mine did just a little bit so I eventually supported the tonneau from underneath and velcro the tonneau to the bottom channel of the windscreen (mine sits in a channel all around).  My tonneau is really a full tonneau that I fold down and back underneath so that the rear half gets snapped to the top snaps, then the front half gets folded and stowed on the back seat.  Makes a neat "curtain" right at the front edge of the back seat.

Now you've got me thinking of ways I can improve my seatbelt mount.  I have 3-point harnesses with inertial retractors.  It doesn't work as freely as I would like so now's the time to do improvements.  Doubt that I'll be "Engine Turning" anything, though!

You'll get there Ed. You've come a long way already. Nice work too ! Fun as hell isn't it !

Gorden...It rattled something terrible on the first test so I installed two little clear plastic stick-ons about 1/8" thick to engage the Lexan with the roll-bar adjacent horizontally from the top two fasteners. you can just barely see them in photo # 5020

Jeeze !  I hadn't even thought about the tonneau cover yet !  Guess that means getting a holes and snaps cut in it ?

A 3/4" or 5/8" or 1/2" stick of cratex and a drill press chuck that size and your off and running. I freehanded the "Engine Turning" this time. When the cratex gets clogged up I bring it down on a piece of rough cut oak to clean it. (about every 6 to 8 impressions)
