almost, they were smaller and more flush against the fiberglass
Originals had them cut in below the bumpers - if no fog lights there was a 2 or 3 aluminum bar grill. Fog lights are most effective if mounted close to road surface --- driving lights up above the bumper.

Marty, my car used to have the lights from a Harley Davidson set into the front clip. They were yellow back then.
When I put the new ones in, I was originally going to use some tin and wrap the lights, to kind of make it look "finished."
The method was going to be to fill in fiberglass using a 7-11 Spurpee cup as the pattern and this cardboard template for the tin work.
I decided against it when I realized how hot the Hellas get. That's why they're recessed and free-standing now. They haven't given me any trouble. Kinda makes the front of the car look like a truffle hunter, but I can get past that.
