Lowered Shocks... Rear & Front. Best?

Lowered spindles do not use lowered shocks, they use stock sized shocks. They lower the car by raising the spindle placement on the steering knuckle.

My Spyder was so low that normal sized shocks bottomed out in the rear. I was investigating getting shorter shocks for it when I traded it away. IIRC, it was AirKewled that sold them.

I lowered the back of mine with adjustable spring plates, then mounted adjustable Koni Reds at all four corners. It rides great, and only drags the exhaust tips on occasion.

I recently discovered that my car was bottoming out on the rear bump stops.

It might be good to check if that is actually what is happening.

All good comments on here.  You probably don't want gas shocks because they will tend to make the ride pretty stiff.  Instead, get a set of Cofap shocks from the VW part  supplier of your choice for a VW sedan.

And check at the rear.  As Michael mentioned, the rear is probably bottoming out on the suspension travel rubber snubbers.

That’s what I thought was happening to my Spyder after I “self checked,” but once I had help, I sat in the driver’s seat and had a friend bounce on the rear, it was clear the shock was running out of travel. It was still 2” off the bump stop.
