I just got my Magna Spark kit the other day. I installed it as the instructions say.

Finding TDC with rotor pointing to #1 with both rockers on #1 loose. I turned the crank to the 10 degree mark and tried to static time it before I actually start it up, get it warm, and use a timing light to set it at 32.

I couldn't get my test light to go out when I turned the Dizzy. No matter how much I turned it. I triple checked the wiring. Does this method even work on this distributor? I wanted to ask here before calling CB. The instructions that came with the kit are vague for this. They just say to line the rotor to #1 on the cap and start it up.

I got it to start, and as soon as it would idle, I used the timing light to set it to 10 degrees until it was warm. I then set it to 32 at 3500 rpm, but I was unable to take it out for a spin to get it to a proper temperature. I'll do this as soon as I can and recheck it.

When you get a few miles on it and know how it feels with the timing set at 32°, try it at 30 and even 28° to see where it's happiest. 

It stopped raining and it got up to 65 degrees today. Took it out for a spin. So much smoother. Ended up with the timing at about 30 degrees. I'll run it for a bit then play with the timing up and down to see where it really likes to be.  Maybe tinker with the advance curve some to see if that matters.

I did notice my tach needle is kinda jumpy when I spool it up and put in the clutch to change gears, the needle will keep on going up, sometimes bouncing to max and back. Weird. I know the engine isn't reving that high. I do have the china gauges. They're on the list for replacement somewhere.
