I finally solved the entry puzzle, figured out the secret password and was able to buy a CB tuned Magna Spark II dizzy and coil set.  The trick: wait a year and a half. It's all Piperato's fault since he wanted me to go down his path and go crank-fire.  Well, that's pretty cool stuff, but I don't play at that level. At least not yet, likely not ever.  Anyway, the question is simple: the thing comes with a selection of advance curves possible.  The default seems to be the curve I have always understood to be good for Type 1s.   So, should I mess with the stupid springs, or just plug 'n' play?  2332 , dual 44 IDFs, mild cam.

Try it with the shipped in place springs first to see what it does.

You’ll probably like it as-is.  I have a MS II and love it.  I’ll check to see what color springs I’m running.  They’re super-easy to change, right under the rotor.

BTW, while it’s really nice to have a dizzy that is easy to change the advance curve (or lock it out for use with a crank-fire setup), the REAL benefit is a much better and closer tolerance mechanical assembly that is much more stable and doesn’t allow “spark bounce” all over the place.  The original, German Bosch 009 disti was very good, but the hordes of non-German knock-offs are all pretty poor unless you get a well built one, like the Magna Spark (either one).

I have a new old stock, never used, still in the box German Bosch 009 I’m willing to sell, if anyone is interested.
