Bruce, cool idea for the darts. I picture silver webs as darts over the rear taillights with a red hour glass marking of a black widow spider on the rear clamshell. (Y)
I'm not a fan of any "darts" on the front of either Speedster or Spyder.
They remind me of Liz Taylor's makeup in Cleopatra.
But on the back, that's different. Just have Greg's folks paint them on. Mine are painted and bordered by gold pinstripe. All of it is clear-coated over so it is very smooth. I was doubtful of the gold but Greg said just trust me. I'm glad I did, it looks fantastic.

I already AM doing me. A white Spyder with red darts(oh, the calamity, it's not silver!) is not considered "normal".

Now I'm thinking I should update my analogy to:

I laid out the darts on Danny's first Spyder.....it took a lot of time doing the lay out because the bodies are not symmetrical. Me cussing up a storm as I taped it over and over trying to get it perfect then Randy the body shop owner yells "THAT'S IT" ! from across the shop and the red darts went on ~

Every set I've ever seen have been painted.
Me too. But with a replica people sometimes assume it's vinyl. I've seen guys peer at mine to see if they can detect a bump.
I just bought a spyder and want to add the darts in red, but not sure if i want them painted on. Just in case i get sick of it.

But Ford356Outlaw, there are plenty of places that can do custom vinyl. Google them, you might even have one close by. If not, just buy them online and have a local vinyl shop put them on (if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself.

He didn’t have a Spyder template when I talked to him, but that may have changed.I briefly contemplated taking my car to him so he could scan it, but my love for darts was short-lived. (I’m sure glad I didn’t paint any on)
Any paint protection film place can do it for you. They usually have an assortment of colors available as well because every white Tesla that gets sold usually ends up with a color change to something a lot more interesting.

I've had people touch mine, people(idiots) that don't understand that you don't touch a man's automobile. There is no bump, just smooth under clearcoat.

I don't think you'll get sick of them, but that's me. I originally had a silver car with no darts. I had it painted white with red darts as Alan states above. Alan's friend Randy painted the car. I really like that scheme, as it is different than the usual silver, but still period correct.
When I totaled my car and built a new one, I had Greg paint it in California. The darts are painted on and pinstriped with gold around the edges. The pinstripe is a little more than 1/8", maybe 3/16" or so. It really makes the darts "pop" and I highly recommend the pinstripe treatment. As I've said before, Greg asked me to trust him and I'm really glad I did. I really didn't think it would look great, but it really does.
+1 on the pinstripe.
I think the rear darts look great on my car and I like them a lot on other 550s but they're by no means mandatory. Spyders look awesome no matter how they're painted.
Thanks everyone for all the input. This is definitely one of the better forums. I will most likely get a vinyl decal. I want to redo the interior upholstery as well. Probably order a carpet kit from VMC unless anyone has a better suggestion.

You could always add some pin striping along the edges of the decal if you want the darts to stand out.

If you’re using a vinyl wrap material for the darts, then search on Amazon for a gold vinyl 1/8” pinstripe tape (or whatever color you wish) to run along the edge of the dart to accent it.
Lots of places on Amazon sell wrap material in lots of colors in 1’ - 2’ by 5’ - 10’ rolls if you wish to DIY your Darts. There is also a “knifeless vinyl cutting tape” on Amazon. You put the cutting tape down on the surface to get the Dart shape you want, then put the vinyl wrap material over it and then pull the knifeless tape up to cut through the wrap material and “Presto”….

The pinstripe on my Ducati was supposed to be black, but the painter went off the original Scrambler tanks that were red metallic over chrome. Had a friend do a Photoshop rendering with black and it looked like crap. Sometimes, a screw up works out well.
Over the years I’ve grown to like the gold stripe.

That stuff is pretty amazing. I watched a video of some guy doing a wrap at SEMA and it was amazing how he used that stuff to make perfect cuts along the seams and edges of the car he was wrapping.

Mr Mule.......I like what you have shown. Thank you ! My car will be black. The webs will be red only, thin lines and hopefully, provide a "ghosted effect". My drawings were straight lines but the real ones will have slight curves to better fit the fender profile but not as curvy as you depicted. They will look like webs and not as stylized as one of yours is.......Bruce
