Three ways to approach this, your preference:

  1. Get a regular Metric nut to fit the threads and use it as a locknut on the bottom of the shift knob, or:
  2. Get a Metric "Jam Nut" to fit the threads and use it as a locknut on the bottom of the shift knob.  The Jam Nut is about half the thickness of a regular nut and won't be as noticeable.  Or: 
  3. Put some Locktite Blue on the shift lever threads and then screw the knob on.  If it loosens up with the Locktite, then go the Jam nut route.
