With all the talk of Kitman doors being a problem to mount , I was wondering if anyone has seen a YouTube video or a very detailed “How-to” on mounting the doors ?

No I do not have a project like that now , but it would be nice to know how fast I should run away if one if offered to me with the doors never mounted  !

I know that a lot of the Devins were never built because the buyers could never figure out how to mount the doors, so it’s been a fiberglass car problem for half a century !

It kind of reminds me of the parts spec'd for some of the earlier kit cars (not speedsters) that called for:

  • Hood and trunk latches from a Chevy Chevette
  • Door latches from an AMC Gremlin
  • Windshield from a '67 Camarro (unique to that year)
  • Steering column from a '66-'68 Corvair
  • Rear window from a '68 Mustang fastback (unique to that year)
  • Gull Wing Door hinges from a DeLorean

And on, and on......

George from Texas would have been in his Hey-Day.

Yeah I think Kitman  or anyone who sells Speedster bodies without doors installed needs to include some templates and measurements.

Thats why I always point people to look for an Intermechanica because I believe they were all shipped with doors and hoods mounted , at least the California built bodies.

but even a CMC or Fiberab video would be nice……
